Cant stand rap/hip-hop. Sounded like a wanna-be Eminem.
The rest of the music was ok. Over-hyped. But it was the first time Eminem made a musical, so I get it.

Honestly, he's probably the weakest performer in the original cast but he's a genius with lyrics.

He obviously is an incredible talent, but I really thought he sucked in Mary Poppins and then confirmed it in Hamilton.

I don’t mean that he’s terrible... he’s better than me, just really low on the totem pole compared to other singers. Great performance and deserving of the praise, but meh singing talent.

I saw it in Chicago too.

So after seeing the original cast on this, do you prefer Lin Manuel-Miranda or Miguel Cervantes as Hamilton?

I actually think I prefer Cervantes. LMM is brilliant for the writing but I thought Cervantes played that role perfectly.

Is anyone else getting excited for this to drop next weekend? I could not stand it when the SO played it on repeat 2 years ago, but within the past year I’ve slowly been enjoying it.

Disney is censoring the use of f*** during the performance and will have a PG-13 rating.

I got to see it on broadway but without Lin Manuel starring it.

I enjoyed this it was cool to see another angle and not be jammed in a tiny little arse theater.

First time seeing it.

You’ll be Back by the king was the best song. Made me laugh my arse off.

Overall I really liked it, but I think LMM was by far the weakest link, but who is going to tell him he can’t play the role he created?

The Jefferson was my favorite character

Not sure how I got through school without learning about Hercules Mulligan, but at least Hamilton introduced me. A spy named Hercules Mulligan deserves to be remembered. Even if he didn't look quite as much like Lawrence Taylor in real life.

The current Broadway has cast Cervantes as Hamilton and James Monroe Iglehart as Jefferson. Saw it just before COVID and that shite was perfect.

I am not into plays or musicals but I watched it last night and it was pretty damn good. Really enjoyed it.

King George and Jefferson stole the show.

It is relatively apolitical (in PC terms)

It's incredibly apolitical given the source material.

The only lines I can think of that could cross into political territory:

Hamilton's jabs at slavery during the rap battle (if this bothers you, you have deeper issues)

"Immigrants, we get the job done"

Both very minor and if you get upset at that, chances are you'll get upset at pretty much anything.

Absolutely agree and found it extremely refreshing to see our nations history and founding fathers to not have modern lenses tear down their legacy and treated as the men of intellect and respect of their time.

King George was easily the best character! So funny. Just found out the actor Jonathan Groff who played him is the younger FBI profiler in Mindhunters and was Kristoff in Frozen. Dude can sing (and spit!)

I was not looking forward to Hamilton initially, thinking it'd be a musical shrine to the OG Big Government Founding Father and thinking they'd go all out to disrespect states-rights Thomas Jefferson. But it was actually pretty even-handed. It was relatively an historically accurate re-telling of Hamilton's flawed but integral contribution to early America. They let Jefferson keep his swag, too.

There were minor PC throw-away-lines that touched on slavery, immigration and female equality, but overall, it was certainly more historical than it was political. Worth the watch.
