Don't think so...I believe this is a addition by hollywood to incite more viewership and of course force a political message down your throat.

Will Jim and Barbara's daughter be Batgirl?
I think there are some continuities out there in the comics that have Barbara's mom being an ex-fiance of Jim's whose name was also Barbara.

it's just a show on Fox based off of a comic..Accept it for what it is, and you'll appreciate it more
That's the main gripe I have. It's like they can't decide if they want it to be "comic book-ish" or serious. It's jumps back and forth with the acting and dialogue. At least the storyline is consistent.

i'm really liking this show. i don't have any real gripes with it - i feel like they're going for more of a tim burton gotham. some over the top villains and definitely has a comic book feel to it. the buddy cop stuff developing between gordon and bullocks is
"so your network of asian loan sharks and hookers didn't know anything?"
i'm conflicted on the barbara gordon story line - making her an ex lesbian junkie seems weird. unless she has a kid and then gets destroyed by the underworld of gotham which makes gordon more open to the right kind of vigilane and more of a reason for her daughter to become bat girl.
i like how the show is developing and they've calmed down with the avalanche of soon to be villains. once it really finds its footing this could be a great show.
