Exactly. If they can make wholesale changes to plotlines, making changes to supposed ages of the Stark children should be nothing. I think Martin wrote these characters to be too young anyway.

He's admitted that he screwed their ages up and that the show has done that part better than he did

Just got around to watching. I didn't think the episode lived up to black water. In fact I thought it was worst of the season for sure. What does everyone else think without me havin to read 30 PGs

Read all the books twice. The episode definitely condensed some things but I thought it was great. The battle was awesome and Jon snow, the hero we know him as has finally emerged.
No it didn't follow the book exactly but this isn't the first time we've seen that. I would have put the battle around the 5th or 6th episode but that doesn't matter anymore. The season will finish at the conclusion for book 3 for a lot of the characters. Some characters are already in the 4th/5th book.
Next season will be stannis' offer to Jon and he will become lord commander. Balon will die too. Those two things will be the only things to wrap up for next season.
