These GOT threads are so funny. Always somebody coming in to make sure everybody else knows he can read.
But, anyway... I watched the topic episode last night after not watching since week two.
Can someone summarize for me who Walder Frey is and how Tywin Lannister had anything to do with the wedding I saw last night? Thanks in advance.

You are bitching about readers and you don't even watch?
Is there even a thread for Rex??

Frey is the Lord of House Frey... he has an army and his castle is located next to a valuable bridge in the Riverlands. I think they are loyal to House Tully, although now they killed another Tully (Catelyn Stark was formerly Tully).
Tywin Lannister apparently hired Lord Bolton to sabotage Robb, according to Lord Bolton's line "Tywin Lannister sends his regards".

Gotcha... thank you. I missed that line, I guess.... GOT is hard enough to follow without closed captions (HBOGo, get your act together, please... it's a wonder they haven't been sued for ADA violations)... but when the dogs are barking and the wife is yapping it was even worse.

Just got caught up last night, and WOW! That was some intense/f'd up stuff
My main thought after the episode was: So is the war over now? Seems like the Lannisters just put the nail in the coffin by having the Frey's and Bolton's betray Robb. And what about all Robb's men? Did they just all get killed last night? I guess we'll know more about all that next week after all this WTF settles down. And if Arya would have died I would have destroyed my apartment in a fit of rage
(Obviously not looking for spoilers, just sharing my thoughts)

Pretty sure the war is over... Stannis, Dany, and WWs seem like the only threats to the Lannisters, but that threat is not imminent.
I guess the Tyrells are a wildcard, maybe they can break up the Lannisters from the inside once the marriages go thru.

My thoughts are that the war, for now, has to be over. The North took too big of a punch in the guts to continue as is.
But, in the previews for next week's episode, they show Tyrion saying "the Northerners will never forget", which I assume is a reaction to hearing about the Red Wedding. I think it's setting up for a HUGE rebellion in a future season.
The preview also shows Stannis saying "my enemies have made my kingdom bleed." I wonder if he is referring to the North as a whole and will use this act as his way of raising a bigger and more unified army for himself. (Is Dragonstone considered Northern? It's north of King's Landing, but not by much. Even if not, Stannis is definitely against the throne, so.)
So, for now, I think Stannis' pursuits will be the major plot to follow. Dany's too far off and Arya and Bran's stories will take longer to develop as well. I have a feeling we'll see an end to the Greyjoy storyline next episode.

You and I have different opinions of what it means for a war to be over, I guess.
-Stannis is far from giving up and we have no idea how eminent his threat is, especially with magic dick leeches
-Dragon Tits is amassing a sizable army
-Tywin said (though this might have just been in a preview) that Ironborn are roaming the North
-Brotherhood Without Banners is tracking Lannister men
Most of the fighting has been offscreen, so I'm pretty confused about how big the armies are or how many battles there have been, but this is a much bigger war than the little bits of action we see.

I'm all for Dany right now because she has Grey Worm and that dude is awesome. And she has dragons, which are cool.
Did y'all catch when Jorah's face when he and Grey Worm showed up after sacking the city and Dany was like, "Where's Daario?" Dude was heartbroken

Probably opportunism - he named Robb with one of the leeches - the proper move for Stannis, always, was to ally with the North and secure an agreement that priests/priestesses of the LoL would be able to preach in the north. Religious extremism and ego probably prevented that (and, he has been severely inconsistent, killing his own brother, yet sparing the Onion).
Stannis is a complete wildcard at this point, although he remains as the only legitimate threat to Lannister control of the throne until Dany shows up.
ETA: I think the Brotherhood will have a tough choice to make, when/if the time comes.

Don't know.
It's been so long since the Winterfell episode, but wasn't Theon's sister also raiding other parts of the North? Plus who knows what happened to Theon's men after he got captured.
