Gotta admit I didn't like the idea of original songs. I started watching this show because of the music.They brought back some classics. But the 2 originals wre pretty good.

the original songs ended up being good. I wasn't too sure about them. The "rough drafts" were all funny (I mean, really? "trouty mouth"? lol) and the ones at regionals were good.

Agreed. But I've pretty much liked the sound that they put together on anything they've done so far. The musical arrangements they use are outstanding.
Good episode and the original songs delivered a lot more than I would have thought. Big plus there.

P.S. I actually called the canary dieing like 2 seconds before it did. You knew that bird had to croak eventually and I just knew it was going to be right then.
