I think the feminism social aspect to the movie is completely overblown. It's demeaning for them to have to be so over-the-top about feminism and make this movie more about the sex of the characters than the film itself.

That being said, you're part of the reason it has turned into what it is. Look at these vitriolic posts about a fricking movie you haven't even seen.

The previews didn't look good by any means imo. That has nothing to do with the sex of the characters but the writing and sophistication of the jokes in the previews left a lot to be desired. I'm a huge fan of Wiig and McKinnon, even McCarthy in the right role (Spy). But it didn't look well done.

The fact is, there was a large contingent of people shitting on this movie before even a trailer came out - simply because they changed the gender of the cast. I had always found that strange, and that's why I think it has become what it is.

Are there any normal sane intelligent men in the entire movie?

And what happened at the climax? How did they kill the final enemy? Please explain that scene to me.

Any minor or major male characters that are sane, normal and intelligent?

Every review (unless multiple reviews are lying) has specifically said there are almost no normal or sane male roles in this movie. The male characters are either dumb, evil, or a jackass.

Then to top it off, in the final battle, the villain is destroyed by being shot in the dick.

How is that not over the top man-bashing?

People who saw the movie have said this, and it's not exclusive to one or even just a few who have seen the movie.

"If you're a real "Ghostbusters" fan, your time would be better spent watching the original. Because this reboot doesn't deserve its name." - Top Critic

But I believe its going to draw huge this weekend just like car crashes - out of curiosity.

Shame, I wish people would just stay away from all remakes/reboots to let Hollywood know the only thing they understand....the almighty dollar.

Yes. To be honest though, there's not many male main characters. I think people are getting too caught up on Chris Hemsworth's character, Kevin. I only found him funny a couple of times and thought it was a bit over the top.

The movie is a comedy. You create comedic situations by having some characters act dumb and insane. That includes the female characters too. All of the characters act insane, weird and dumb at different parts of the movie. For example, Holtzmann acts just as dumb and stupid as Kevin. Also, it was hilarious to see the Mayor get agitated when someone compared him to the mayor in Jaws. It's funny because he's too stupid to see that he is doing the exact same thing while saying "That was unrealistic!"

Are you telling me you don't find nut shots funny? I didn't see it as man-bashing, I saw it as a funny moment.

Nope, but a timely placed nut shot can be funny in a comedy

I just don't find over the top humor like that funny, and I don't think it matches with Ghostbusters and it's not the type of humor that made Ghostbusters great.

Also, aren't the female characters supposed to be smart and they saved everyone? Sounds like they didn't go all out on stupid and crazy. ....

Also, the ghost had no nuts.....what's the point?

Yeah, in a Seth Rogan movie, but in Ghostbusters?

Dude, there's plenty of stupid humor in the three Ghostbuster movies. Remember when Ray Stantz got a blowjob from a ghost and then his eyes crossed?

Wasn't that in the sequel? I don't count that one and neither does most of the cast. Most of the truly "stupid" humor is in the sequel and the new one.

Right, because what you say can't change what the movie is.

I'm not going to watch the new movie, but that's because nothing in the trailers was funny and none of the reviews make it sound like a good movie.
