whose direwolf was that in Bran's dream?
Bran's wolf, Summer.

I haven't gotten there in the books but I'd guess, Nymeria, maybe? Could be proof to Bran that Arya is alive and not in Lannister hands.

And that is where the Targaryn's lived or did they also live in Kings Landing?
This is why the books are better (no worries, spoilers not following....it's more history backstory anyway)
The Targaryen's were Valyrians, a distinct race with lots of magic and access to dragons, which they used to make a huge republic.
Dragonstone is the ancerstral home of the Targaryeans, the westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Freehold.
Quite some time after the Doom of Valyira, Aegon decided to use his dragons to take over Westeros, desposing the seven Kings and claiming overlordship.
The city of King's Landing, is where he started is invasion (nothing was there initally I think).
The events currently happening is around 300 years after this.

The red haired witchy lady, how come she didn't die when she sipped the poisioned drink? And why the hell did the old man drink first if he knew it was poisoned?
She is a priestess of a religion not endemic to Westeros. May be magic, or she is granted powers by her god.
She didn't die because she protected herself from poisons with a spell in a ruby collar she wears.
The man knowingly drank it because he felt it was the only way to save Stannis....he regards the Baratheon brothers as his kids, after he had to raise them. He thinks me NEEDS to remove the Red Lady's influence before he dooms himself by fighting his brother.
He feels removing her is a cause worth dying for.

The answer as others have stated is Summer, Bran's Wolf. That said he is supposed to have Gold/Yellow eyes to distinguish him from the other Wolves I believe(make it easy on the audience). In these scenes he's had Brown and Red.

FYI, if you're not wanting book spoilers to come in you might want to stop fishing.

I haven't read the books but I kind of have an idea of all the story lines and how they'll go down except Gendry and Arya's.
I'm looking forward to how their situation progresses because there is no foreshadowing or hints.

Valar morghulis.
Lots and lots of valar morghulis.
(Is a spoiler a spoiler if you don't know what it means?

I have a feeling that you are going to be wrong in your predictions.
Martin doesn't follow todays logical story line known to be prevelant in current themes, as anyone can see with the beheading of Ned. I know of few authors/producers who kill off their main character in the first book.

I don't need great detailed answers, just enough to not spoil anything.
Ok, I have another question. When the nightswatchmen go visit this man beyond the wall with all the wives/daughters, how come no wildlings or monsters have killed him yet? They've obviously lived there awhile, how could they have survived so long if there are no males there to help?

Yes I do fool, I've read a couple spoilers.
I've read the wiki pages for a couple characters.
Tyrion & Robs (couldn't help myself).. Mostly minor characters tho, like Syrio Forel. I wanted to know more about characters that didn't play major roles because you don't get that much of a back story.

I wonder if anyone tried telling Martin that they guessed a plot line after reading a rough draft, and he went back and killed the character out of spite.

Next question...whose direwolf was that in Bran's dream?
I think it was Snow's.

I have not seen tonite's episode yet....im assuming you are referring to Craster?
The answer for the wilding front: he IS a wildling...why kill him?
The monster front is answered later.

Another thing I noticed, Rattleshirt looked pretty cool in the preview we saw of him.
Posted on 4/1/12 at 9:35 pm to Siderophore
Well in the first episode of the first season the comment was made that the wildlings would kill each other over a goat.
Posted on 4/1/12 at 9:36 pm to ATLienTiger
Without a spoiler (for those that care) who is Rattleshirt? Like, what is his title and what family or house does he serve?

The Wildlings call themselves the free folk, their enemies are the Night's Watchmen more so than other people living north of the wall.
As for the monsters, that answer lies in the question Jon Snow brought up during tonight's episode. Craster marries his female children, what does he do with his sons?
