SFP I was melting like many today. Then on a re-watch it occurred to me that if the NK is a warg like Bran and all of his army is basically his conciousness then it would be possible for Arya to get the drop on him while he was distracted. And I think the WW glancing over was actually NK glancing at her because he was able to turn so quickly.
I also think Bran was was in the past moving all the pieces into place during the battle. I believe he planted the dagger back in S1.
The plot armor was bad though.

I really enjoyed the episode (and really, that's all the matters) and there are so many damn complainers in this thread it is almost unbearable, so I hate to add to it...buuuut...
I am a bit disappointed we didn't see any NK or WW fighting, I really wanted to see what the NK could do 1v1. In actuality, the"peak" of seeing the NK in action was him striking down an old man stuck in a tree.
I was hoping for some epic 7v7 in the godswood. NK+WW's vs Jon and crew, with just a few surviving. Neither the NK or WW's even drew their swords :(
I did, literally, cheer out loud when Arya got him though!!

NK knew Jon had Valerian Steel after seeing him wax a WW at Hardhomme. He knew better than to fight him 1v1.
I think he was controlling the entire dead army mentally.

This. Like an octopus and it's tentacles. NK was throwing hands all night. That's why all of the WW were so calm in the garden at the end. It was just the NK and bran. There was no reason for the NK to be defensive

While I get this I don't get how the wights were behaving in the library.
Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome and tense scene... but wights aren't undead zombies like we traditionally think of them. They're actually controlled by the NK/WW, so why the hell were half a dozen of them just zombie walking the library until something came in their path instead of helping with the attack?

can we just talk about the fact that they built up the WW for 8 years, assembling an army of the undead and they dont make it past Winterfell? the closest kingdom to the wall
NK was assembling for 8 fuggin years and BOOM, his entire being is done at Winterfell.
what the frick man.

You just get on the M/TV board a few minute ago? It's been the entire divide between those who liked the episode and who didn't.

The Night King lives in Bran. I can’t believe everyone is missing out on this!!! He transferred bodies. Just rewatched and I’m a 99% sure of this!

oh I'm in the thread, fun bunch called me out for not being a book reader because I thought the WW were really important to the story
.
but overall what the frick man, they get manhandled as soon as they come into the 7 Kingdoms. And on top of that they dont kill any huge players

Rewatch is on now. I'm actually a fan of the episode and how it ended, but nit picky things that bothered me.
Why the hell is the trench so small?
Why is the army in front of the trench?
Why is the artillery in front of the army?
Why did they only shoot one volley?

It's taken me all afternoon to finally get here but I replied to something earlier with similar thoughts and think that pretty much solves it.

a part of me thinks the WW presence is not 100% dead, but that's probably because they have always been my favorite part of the lore and they are all dead now.

none of us deserve the NK

I think he just puts the wights on autopilot during the attack.
Remember he lowered his hand and commanded them all to lay down on the fire.

So, Bran is the NK’s horcrux?
