Ned (and presumably Robert) know that Viserys and Dany sail off of Dragonstone soon after it happens. Varys already had contacts in the Seven Cities. I don't see why it makes more sense to take them all the way to Dorne (and risk the rest of the realm invading) than just to sail them straight over to Pentos or wherever.

Occam's Razor says you're right. But this isn't life, it's a fictional story.
Red door and lemon tree mean something. A lot fleeting images from Dany's thoughts mean something. One must presume we find out in the end.

Possibly. It just seems odd for master plotter Varys to have Dany spend years in Dorne at risk that Robert would find out and have her assassinated.

In recalling the circumstances - Ser Willem sheltered them - (allegedly in Braavo) for approximately 5 years before he died. He negotiated for Viserys to marry Arienne Martell. After he died, Viserys was about 12 and Dany was about 5 - and they just wandered around for years after that, impoverished.
They were put out of the house in Braavos shortly after Ser Willem died because the servants stole the rest of the money. So, they didn't commission a sea voyage from Dorne to Braavos at that point. If they were sheltered in Dorne for any length of time, I would think it would have been early and before Dany had any clear memories. It's possible they made a dangerous journey later, I suppose, and stayed in Dorne, briefly, in cognito - while the deal was negotiated, but I find that tough.
But the red door/lemon tree means something - it just may not mean "Dorne."

Agreed that it may come back, but yeah Dany has clear memories of the red door house. I don't think you could keep them in Dorne for years without someone noticing.
Also Robert seemingly gets regular reports on what they are up to (he hears about her wedding) so if they didn't turn up the Free Cities after setting sail, there would be some serious alarm. Unless Varys came up with some elaborate plan to feed Robert false info.

I guess some people forget that this is all fiction and isn't really happening.

I like SPFs game of acting like an innocent hodor, and swooping in with all the book reader thread theories and info and dropping them off in the Hodor thread acting like he picked it up himself
he doesn't actually post in here but he posts stuff word for word stuff that's in here.
I probably shouldn't even look in the other thread but I get bored

Which is why I said I never noticed it. Numb nuts. Those scenes happened fast

He's smart enough to wait until there's the slightest hint of proof on the show (or something he can claim as proof) and cites it in whatever he posts
I don't really care, just find it funny He just wants to look like a god to them it seems
