Jousting is pretty fricking physical competition and while Lyanna is a tom boy she is never described as having a manly build unlike Brienne.
A couple of POV characters consider jousting to be 90% horsemanship and Lyanna's equine skills are mentioned repeatedly as well. Real life jousting may well take more upper body strength but I doubt if m'Lard has any first hand experience.

Weren't the guys she out jousted only squires too? It's not like she unhorsed some well known fighters IIRC

She* unhorsed the knights and then required they punish their squires to get their armor back.
Lyanna certainly had the horsemanship for jousting, but you are still talking about wearing a shite ton of plate armor and carrying a long arse piece of wood steady. Just seems odd for her to be competent at this with little/no training.

What would be the point of that story then? And why would Ned never tell it?
Posted on 5/2/16 at 3:38 pm to wildtigercat93
Nah, she beat some real A-list jousters IIRC

The story sets up quite a bit of the story between Lyanna and Rhaegar from what I remember. It also touches on Ned's infatuation with Ashara Dayne (who killed herself when Ned brought her brother's sword to her and is one Jon's theoretical mothers). I also thought it was about how Howland was quite a bit more formidable than he/crannogmen appear.

I seriously believe the show has put LF in a corner. Even if he shows up to crush the Boltons, Sansa will hate him and I'm sure Jon won't trust him either. The crown will be appreciative but eventually I think the Vale lords will realize what's up. I think he has hedged too many bets.
Unless Sansa was to somehow get over the fact that he sold her off and ally what's left of the North with the Vale, March South and join up with the Tyrells and the Dornish and crush the Lannisters while Dany arrives. It could literally come down to Jon meeting Dany as heads of two great armies. King meets Queen.

Not only that, but the Knight of the Laughing Tree shows up after Reed prayed to the old gods, so she may have also been blessed to win those contests.
Another thing that I remember, is that Ned once mentioned that Arthur Dayne would have defeated him at the Tower of Joy had it not been for H. Reed. I have always wondered if Knight of the Laughing Tree made an appearance during the fight and, if so, did it have anything to do with Lyanna's death. Maybe she was wounded fighting with Ned?

Been awhile since I've dove deep into the crackpots so the details are fuzzy

Lyanna had (most likely) just given birth to Jon hence the reference to her "bed of blood." I doubt she could do any real damage to Ned. Plus her attacking him undercuts the whole "promise me Ned" bit.

Knight of the laughing tree was currently giving birth. Hard to help while doing that
Posted on 5/2/16 at 3:45 pm to wildtigercat93
Now that would be fricking metal to get out of child-birth and go attack a fully armed/armored man.

Jon snow as a babe used his high concentration of midichlorians to destroy the Kings guard. It is known

Does Davos stick with Jon going south or will he be sent to Dragonstone with whoever the hell is chilling over ther in order to get dragon glass/soldiers?

Somebody has to get Rickon, dammit.

I noticed in the preview for next week's trailer for tower of joy:
- 6 facing 2
- No Dawn. I assume Dayne is wielding the 2 swords
- One of the 2 KG is dead on the ground while 2 sword KG is fighting 5-6 people

You can make a safe bet that people will melt about TOJ no matter how well done it is

The Hodors still have people bitching about Jon coming back. Maybe because they have less context on AAR/TPTWP?

I think Davos has hitched his wagon to Jon Snow and will serve him as loyally as he served Stannis. In other words, whatever Jon commands Davos to do.
