quote:lot of ppl originally doubted they'd have flashbacks, but it was confirmed at the TCA event. That scene and several others will be f'g awesome
Would love to see how they visualize the Tower of Joy dream/flashback.

Yeah they cast Aerys, and got the nice torture scene with Ned's brother.

i'll probably do that too. i just started the fourth book.
my favorite character/storyline so far is danaerys (sp?).
eta, i hope the HBO series is just as bloody and raw as the books are. i hope they don't try and ghey it up.

Love the series, and literally just now caught the making of it on HBO, searched for this thread lol.
It actually looks like a fantasy tv series that could be successful. I had my reservations, since I have high expectations due to the novels.

In middle of re-read and I am amazed with how much foreshadowing there is. GRMM has dropped so many nuggets that you simply don't understand in your first read.

I don't know about ya'll but I'm rooting for the Steelers to whip the Jets so he'll get the frick back to writing!
he keeps talking about "Kong" so hopefully he is getting close to finishing. Although he doesn't mention that he is finished WRITING it or revising it

I got frustrated a few years ago while reading the first couple of books. Although I enjoyed them, he was taking too long to publish the fifth one, so I stopped reading them. When I found out that HBO was doing this, I was cautiously optimistic.
Seeing the trailers for the series, I have upgraded my opinion. I currently, do not have HBO, but I'm going to sign up for it just for this show. I'll get the first six months free just to see it. If it's worth it I'll pay the extra each month just to keep it.

That is true I have reread them several times, I keep on finding new things that I missed the first time. Like Renaly totally missed his style the first time I read it.

Waiting for the next book is driving me batty. Think I'll start the re-read, the timing seems right to have me finish just about when he finally finishes the next.
THEN, do I wait for the paperback, or say screw it and read the hard back, then buy the paperback when it comes out to add to my collection?

Sadly I am struggling to get through a feast for crows. I have re-read GoT but still haven't finished FfC for some reason I'm a lot less interested, something about the book is not holding my attention. Anyone else find this to be true?

I'm right there with you. I don't know if it is my disgust with him, or what, but I think I got through maybe 50 pages and put it down. I think I'll get it on Kindle in a few...if Dance comes out soon. Which by the way i heard was bigger than Storm, which I think was his longest...this one (Dance) will be a door stopper, I bet

quote:actually found AFFC better the second read through b/c I wasn't reading for the plot as much and was able to look for things I missed the first time. And Arya is maybe my favorite character in the series.

No one is close to Tyrion but she is my second favorite. She is starting to piss me off though...afraid of what will happen to her.

got a buddy at work to read GOT and he came up to me yesterday and thanked me for introducing it. he's only ab half way through (small spoiler: when Caitlyn arrests Ty), and said he skipped two classes yesterday to stay home and read. told him he hasn't seen shite yet

I was skeptical about the book when I started reading it. A friend of mine told me I should read it but he's a huge fan of fantasy books. I borrowed some that were just too much on the side of high fantasy. I was glad that GoT wasn't like that. I'm sure more magic and fantasy elements will be introduced but from what I've heard it isn't too bad.
