And they completely abandoned the strongly developed male characters (Jamie, Jon, Tyrio, Brann, etc.) For cheap feminist fanfic scores (Arya sleeping with Gendry, Brienne sleeping with Jamie, Arya killing the night king).


If you think about it from a less attractive bookish unpopular female perspective as one of the writers, it makes sense.

She wrote the last season as if she and the characters she sees herself, were the stars of the show and everyone else had to be written as a supportive role to her self-insert.


Give all the sort of quirky unconventionally attractive women the spotlight and the conventionally attractive women are the evil villains (Cersei and Dany are killed in the end) and the men are quietly deposited into the background to make way for the quirky female characters to shine bright.


You only had to completely alter every surrounding male character and shift the entire story trajectory to get it done. It perfectly explains why the show seemed to go off the rails. The show started in a much different era and then Hillary Clinton (absolutely worshipped among the film community as a female hero) lost and made the entire industry double down on their feminism narratives.
