Game of Thrones is a cautionary tale for anyone in the Television industry. If you have a wealth of source material. use it, and if you have the most popular show in the world, don't rush your way through the last 3 seasons because you want to work on something else.

By the way, what are D & D working on right now ? Their fricking resumes.

GoT was a legit great show during its peak but if you judge the entirety, it's overrated based on the last 20 or so episodes.

Besides the shitty ending I think the reason season 7 was meh and 8 sucked is because it revolved solely around the army of the dead and Dany and her dragons. Throughout the entire show both of those subplots weren’t as entertaining as the Westeros houses fighting each other and the drama in Kings Landing. Also a lot of the best characters were dead by the final 2 seasons or their character arc largely completed so they didn’t have as much focus on them.

And they completely abandoned the strongly developed male characters (Jamie, Jon, Tyrio, Brann, etc.) For cheap feminist fanfic scores (Arya sleeping with Gendry, Brienne sleeping with Jamie, Arya killing the night king).

If you think about it from a less attractive bookish unpopular female perspective as one of the writers, it makes sense.

She wrote the last season as if she and the characters she sees herself, were the stars of the show and everyone else had to be written as a supportive role to her self-insert.

Give all the sort of quirky unconventionally attractive women the spotlight and the conventionally attractive women are the evil villains (Cersei and Dany are killed in the end) and the men are quietly deposited into the background to make way for the quirky female characters to shine bright.

You only had to completely alter every surrounding male character and shift the entire story trajectory to get it done. It perfectly explains why the show seemed to go off the rails. The show started in a much different era and then Hillary Clinton (absolutely worshipped among the film community as a female hero) lost and made the entire industry double down on their feminism narratives.

I won’t even try to respond to that wall of drivel except to say this made me laugh…

They forgot Bran even existed for a time.

Black Sails was airing during the same time and I kept trying to tell people it was a better show.
BS was good but not a better show..... and BS flopped when all the bad arse characters came out as figs.

In complete contrast to GoT, Black Sails got better every season and completely stuck the landing. Hands down my favorite closing scene.
