I dont think viper got gregor with the spear until a few minutes into the fight after gregor started to get tired.

Of course that would be like Ned fighting without Ice

Did Ned have Ice during Robert's Rebellion?

Good question. Youd have to assume his father had Ice with him in KL, then Aerys killed him. Ned might not have recovered Ice until he came into KL after the Kingslayer did his thing.

That's what I was thinking, even if it was sent to Winterfell, I don't know if Ned went there. He was in the Vale, & then Riverrun for the wedding.

I might be wrong in this but I thought that Viper hit Clegane with some poison up front and toyed with him while the poison was setting in and slowing him down?

That's exactly what Red Viper did.

He wore him down with his movement more than anything the poison did. It was sorta like the bronn fight in the book. Dodging and dodging and slicing. He waa literally taunting the mountain the entire fight and the poison didnt put the mountain down, it was the accumulation of cuts to the weak spots in his armor. Being that quick and using a spear is a huge tactical advantage in a 1v1. I dont see how robert would close the distance as he was a broad dude as well. The best way to beat him would be to break the spear but i dont think ur gonna do that with a warhammer

You are severely underestimating Robert. What made him such a powerful warrior was not only his size and strength, but he was just as fast as the Jaime's and Oberyn's. He wielded his warhammer, Ned said he could barely lift it, like it was a toy. So while it isn't the quickest of weapons, in Robert's hands it became so. Robert always won the melee's he fought in come tournament time. And he typically did so stinking drunk.
