Who cares? It's not like your enjoying the movie or not will hinge upon Tom Cruise's size.

A shame i love the books

If you loved the books, then you would know that Reacher is a pretty cerebral character. The Rock is not exactly know for playing cerebral characters. OTOH, Tom Cruise is.

Plus, casting the Rock would've been the opposite extreme. Reacher is described as physically imposing, but not huge like the Rock. He's more Chris Hemsworth type guy.

IMO, getting the brain of Jack Reacher correct is more important that his physical size. Cruise my have a weird personal life, but he's a damn good actor.

Also, dead.

The next Star Trek must involve another trip around the sun to go back in time.

Meh, everyone was saying the same thing when Cruise was cast as Lestat (even Ann Rice) and he knocked that out of the park.

Reachers size is constantly referred to in the books you would think they would include such an important part of what makes him who he is into the movie. It's no different than if they cast a white guy to play a character who is a brotha in the book

The author has already stated that Reacher's size is a metaphor for "an unstoppable force." He says Cruise brings that feeling to the role in a different way. If the author doesn't have a problem, why do you?

If the fans were making millions of dollars, they probably wouldn't have a problem with the choice either.

I doubt he's making millions off this movie. They optioned this thing years ago. I'm not familiar with the particular of the contract for sale of movie rights, but I doubt he's getting any points. He probably got a nice lump sum, but if it's 7 figures, I would be shocked.

I may be making an arse of myself, but I can almost guarantee you he made 5 mil minimum.

His total net worth is a little over $17 million. I doubt the sale of rights to one book increased his net worth by a little under 50%.

When Marvel sold the rights to Spider Man, they reportedly received $225,000. Very very very few authors sell movie rights for more than 6 figures, and I don't think I've heard of anything selling for as high as $5 million.

Yeah, I was talking about Lee Child. You're damn right that Tom Cruise is making more than $5 million.
