quote:

Francis Ford Coppola is famous for making a movie classic that took him to hell and back. The legendary director now hopes that experience will help him complete his most ambitious project in decades: a new film about creating heaven on Earth.
quote:

He [created] a wine empire that is worth hundreds of millions and ranks as one of California’s top producers. All that has let Mr. Coppola work largely outside the Hollywood system.
quote:

Mr. Coppola hasn’t directed a feature film since . . . 2011. But he is ready to enter the fray again—and as bold as ever. Dreams of creating heaven on Earth inform his next project, “Megalopolis.” He says it may be his most ambitious movie yet, chronicling an architect’s attempts to turn a futuristic New York City into a utopia. . . He hopes to begin filming later this year.

I respect Coppola and obviously he's one of the all-time greats but it's been 40 years since he's made a film worth watching. Man has one of the worst cases of burnout I've ever seen from a great artist.

Finally got to catch the conversation on prime last week, I heard bad things but I really enjoyed it. Kind of bland but a nice thriller that’s gritty and kind of keeps you on edge

I love Tetro (2009).

Pretty sure many consider it some of his most tidy work.

Have you ever watched an interview with him? He's an extremely emotional dude. Like, it might be uncomfortable to be around him.

Article kind of explains why he's made so few films over the years. No one would even back him financially for Apocalypse Now - after he had won two Oscars! Had to fund the movie himself. Also became incredibly rich buying land and making wine.

The Conversation is a great film, although a little understated for some people’s taste.
It explores a lot of human weaknesses.
