Rhys Ifans will be the/a villain (The Lizard).

I still think they are making one of the same mistakes they did with this series as they did with the last. They are casting Peter too damn old. Tobey Maguire was 26/27 when his Spiderman hit theaters and Garfield will be 28 in 2012 when this hits. They should have casted someone in their late teens/early 20's like it seemed they were going to do in the early rounds of casting.

despite what his age is, does he not look young to you? i think he could pass as a high schooler as he does on a high school tv show. he looks WAY younger than tobey. and im pretty sure this Peter is portrayed in high school, not graduating and going to college like in the first.

i think he looks fine. Spiderman isnt a huge guy.

If I saw this dude around town I'd probably think he is in his early 20's. Still, me knowing that he isn't that young just hangs in the back of my mind and kinda takes away from me buying into this guy being a teen. Kind of like when I found out that Tom Cruise was barely 5 and a half feet tall. I couldn't take him seriously as a bad arse and/or action star anymore.

At the risk of sounding very stupid, why is this guy Spiderman and not Tobey Maguire?

It's a reboot. All new cast, same old story

Complete reboot. No cast members from the past 3 movies will make appearances. MJ isn't in the movie at all. She is being replaced by the natural blonde Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

That's unfortunate, because I was actually looking forward to Spiderman 4.

i don't understand the hate at all. andrew garfield is a fine actor, he will most likely be getting an oscar nomination in the coming month. Emma stone is good too, and marc webb directed the great 500 days of summer last year. Also, spiderman isn't buff. has anyone even read the comics? im actually really excited for this reboot

Basically Sam Raimi was told to either take John Malkovich in his movie or take a hike. He took a hike so Sony said to hell with it, we'll start over.

I have a feeling if they didn't frick over James Cameron back in 2001, we would have a very different outlook on the Spiderman film series.

I don't have a problem with any of the actors. I'm annoyed at the reboot. I would have rather seen them build off the last three and keep Spiderman as an adult. There are only so many ways you can tell the origin of spiderman.
