I made an offer on a complete set of ASoIaF hardbacks on eBay. Wanting to get ahead w/ the books by the time season 4 rolls around but don't know if I can swing that.

Are they each about the length of a LOTR book?

Hell no, I think each book is almost as long at the entire LOTR trilogy

I really hated Sansa at first, but it's mostly just Joffrey and Cersei hate now.

Ned Stark. Risks everything to protect sisters son only to send him to the Wall. So dumb in so many ways.

Of all the characters you pick Ned stark?

Also he didn't send him to the wall. Jon Snow chose to go. He never felt like he was a true Stark bc of Catelyn. Ned actually cared for him.

Neds entire story is making bad decisions and calling them honorable. Marrys brothers leftovers. Lies about John. Never tells John. Lets John take the black without telling him the truth. Rats himself out to Cercei prior to boar accident. The dude is just a disaster.

Ned is too honorable, it was his downfall.

Ned operated on a mental level
on par with Hodor. He also managed to rob Jamie of the respect he deserved playing the honor card. Its not honorable to be completely brain dead.

I think Ned may be responsible for every negative event that occurred in the realm. He prevented Robert from killing Dany. Now there are dragons. He was good to Theon. He simply did not do a single thing right.

I always thought it was implied that Robert Baratheon was responsible for everything, I mean he did start the war

Starks getting burned and sister stepping out on Rob caused war. He is pretty bad also but he doesnt have any BS imagined honor. He knew he was a disaster.

In no particular order:

Jofrey
Cersei
Walder Frey(will become apparent later)
Littlefinger

I don't feel like i can answer without raising some serious questions from the non-readers. Some people i hated after Season 1, i don't hate anymore after reading the books.

I'll go with safe:

Jofrey
Cersei
Gregor Clegane

I left Melisandre off the list by accident, but I guess she gets a pass for being oft naked and a quite literal evil-arse witch.

She does have quite the killer body.

I totally forgot about Janos Slynt and Walder Frey. I hate Slynt.

Oh and I hate Alliser Thorne too.

There would be literally no story without Ned's retarded arse screwing everything up.
