Maybe the different dates in general does encourage pirating in the later market, but if they are going to do it I still think overseas bootlegging is a bigger problem than here in the USA.

That to me is why movies open earlier than overseas than here and not vice versa.

Why they can't open on same date I don't know

most movies here in germany come out about a week or two before the states

Iron man is out already

Yea I saw Iron Man 3 about two weeks ago. I get to see Star Trek a week from today too, suck it bitches! Life Down Under got it made at the cinemas !

Yeah good question. I know New Zealand gets LOTR/hobbit and probably next avatars or any other movies that WETA/Jackson/Cameron do but that makes sense. It's THEIR movies. Not sure about your normal summer fare.
