The Great Santini. Enough said. He is Lt. Col. Bull Meecham.

The Apostle EF in The Apostle. One of my all time favorite movies.

He's great in everything. I loved his scene as Karl's(Billy Bob)dad in Slingblade.

The Gingerbread Man, also starring Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Berenger. It was not John Grisham's best movie but Duvall was great. He had probably one of the top 10 best mullets in cinema history in it.

As much as I liked Col Kilgore, I thought he was at his best as Gus, Lonesome Dove.

I guess I always liked him best in "The Godfather", but I thought he played a very good R.E. Lee in "Gods and Generals" and I liked him as a German Colonel in "The Eagle Has Landed".

Great call on The Apostle. I forgot about that one. Great movie.

Well, the easy answer for me is Tom Hagan..but he was funny in Secondhand Lions

Ive gotta go with Gus McRae from Lonesome Dove
before I opened the thread this is exactly what I was thinking

Gus was a piece of a nice puzzle. A very big piece but a piece.
EF was the movie.
Of course Santini was great.
You know what. I think the better question is what is his worst acting job. Has be had one.
Maybe as Boo Radley. First movie I remember seeing him in. How was he as Boo.

A lot of weak choices, but anyone who mentioned Kilgore, Meechum, or The Godfather movies is on the right track.

He was barely shown. I don't think he even spoke. It was a nice performance for what it was, but not enough to be considered one of his best.
