Im torn between Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.

Just finished Les Mis for the 4-5th time. Such a beautiful work of art.

Edit: Moulin Rouge is right behind the 2 I named above.

I've seen exactly none of those.

I did see Spamalot.

I liked it.

Hollywood: Singin in the Rain, duh

Other: The Umbrellas of Cherbourg with Catherine Deneuve. It's like if La La Land had any originality or emotion

I've seen Book of Mormon twice, plan on seeing it any time it comes within 300 miles or so.

I saw community theater productions of Matilda and Young Frankenstein. Would definitely go see a pro performance of the former ("When I Grow Up" is an all timer of a number IMO), would probably just stick to the movie with the latter.

For non-animated films, nothing touches Chicago for me, but Hedwig and the Angry Inch is infinitely rewatchable due to John Cameron Mitchell's performance.

For me, Phantom has it all:

Period drama, horror, comedy, romance, tragedy, suspense/thriller, ballads, rock anthem, opera, Special FX, love triangle, monster, mobs, rich, poor, ballrooms, theater, chandeliers, cemeteries, sewers, masters, servants, etc..

Musical film? Music Man

Musical on Broadway? Movin' Out was excellent, but you would have to be big fan of Billy Joel. My favorites are close between Spamalot and Book of Mormon. I also enjoyed Wicked more than I thought I would.

I've always enjoyed The Barn Dance from one of my favorite musicals Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

List would be lacking without including Oklahoma.
