Probably the two best Christmas films of the past 20 yrs.
Great recounting by Ferrell from a few years ago on the making of Elf:

And screw any haters of Love Actually, that film is fantastic. Knightley is simply angelic in it. The best scene by far is:

Elf was one of the only movies I couldn't force myself to finish; it was that bad. Not a single funny moment. Made it about a half hour in and eject.

But seriously, I'd take the Colin Firth/Portaguese chick scene over pining loser best friend scenes.
Ranking the stories that were interesting best to worst, the pining best friend over Knightly was near the very bottom next to Emma Thompson's Joni Mitchell story but slightly ahead of Laura Linney's crazy brother story.

America, watch out! Here comes Colin Frissell!
And he’s got a big knoooob!!!!
This and The Holiday are go to Christmas movies to watch with the wife to guarantee some action.

Top Gun..The motherfrickin movie I tell everyone is my fave
Love Actually..The actual movie that I can't miss and mark every year when it hits the Netflix rotation even though I own it

I saw both in theaters. I guess I was a real baller, shot caller in 2003. I barely ever go to the movies these days.
