The scene where Eisenberg puts the piece of candy in the guy's mouth was one of the most cringe-worthy annoying scenes ever. Luther as a spoiled brat. I think maybe they were going after an evil Mark Zuckerberg.

The quote above sounds like an exact description of Eisenberg's character.

Really? How in any way, shape, or form does Eisenberg have a commanding presence? Give me one reason he has one. He's a pussy that could get his shite kicked in by any random character you can think of. There is nothing respectable or intimidating about him.

And then they just try to shove it in there with the horrible jolly rancher scene, which is simply laughable. My thought on seeing that scene was disbelief and laughing my arse off. I just thought that any other version of Luthor (including Hackman's) would have just proceeded to bash his face in.

And in a modern society (like that in which this film was set), a Donald Trump-type character would be a lot more like a Mark Zuckerberg. Hmmmm.....I wonder who could pull off a role like that....

Are delusional or something? The only thing Zuckerberg and Trump have in common is that they're rich and arrogant. That's where their similarities end. Zuckerberg isn't exactly an attention whore showman whose primary desire is to be loved. He's an introverted prick who mostly wants to be left the frick alone. He is clearly highly uncomfortable in public settings.

Would you describe Trump as uncomfortable in public settings? No! No one thrives more in the public setting than Donald Trump. He is an absolute showman and circus leader who loves the limelight more than anything.

I really can't think of two more opposite rich people than Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump. They have nothing in common. You have to be high to think Mark Zuckerberg is a younger Donald Trump in this society.

You just said it yourself...the Jolly Rancher scene. Wasn't it a Senator whose mouth he shoved it in? And the guy did nothing in response. I want you to try shoving a Jolly Rancher into a Senator's mouth and let me know what happens. That very scene which you ridiculed demonstrates his power and intimidation.

Ask any millennial who is someone that they respect that is mega-rich, powerful, and has incredible influence over modern society. Despite Trump even being the fricking President now, more millennial would give you a Zuckerberg or a Bill Gates. Trump and his ilk are conformist dinosaurs to today's generation. And for the record, I love Trump.

No, that scene was hilarious. It showed how much of a petty pussy he is. As I said, every other iteration of Luthor would have beaten him into a bloody pulp for trying it. To be a commanding prescence, you have to pull that off and not make it laughable. Eisenberg's Luthor was a joke that everyone sees but yourself.

But they have absolutely nothing in common with Trump! You may as well be comparing Lena Dunham with Clint Eastwood simply because they're both actors. You're an idiot.

You still don't get it. There's a reason for the deviation from the old-school Luthor character in this interpretation. I'm not saying Zuck is like Trump. I'm saying if you want a mega-rich, powerful, influential powerbroker who can sway society to his whim, the modern generation would give you a Gates or a Zuckerberg before an old dinosaur like Trump (and I mean a Trump at any age). This ain't 1980, bro.

I don't argue with the fact that comic geeks had their jimmies rustled. I speak for normal people. And $873 million of ticket sales will back me up over your 20 dislikes.

Ok, create a new character then, because that's not Lex Luthor. It's like making the Joker a wine critic instead of a murderous clown. The two characters have nothing in common.

And I also don't see why Zuckerberg's performance was anything like Bill Gates. It's clear they just wanted a crazy Mark Zuckerberg, which is shite. At least go with Elon Musk, who is very much admired by Millennials as well (smart ones at least). Zuckerberg I don't think is trying to shape the world into his perfect image, nor is Gates. Musk is though, which makes him a perfect template for Lex.

Go up to a dinner party and say "you know what was great: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor". They'll laugh at your face. I don't know a single person who liked the performance, and critics across the board said that Luthor was the worst part in a simply awful movie. You're fricking delusional.

You complain that the character is "too crazy" and you want an Elon Musk? Speaking of delusional...

Depends on if I'm in a room full of normal people or a room full of comic book nerds (not that there's anything wrong with that) and movie critics...

Elon Musk is more intelligent than anyone I can think of, has visions of grandeur, and a God complex. He's not crazy, he just gets caught up in his own schemes of trying to improve humanity at large and profit himself. That is Luthor.

I've got friends who are normal, and they all think Lex is ridiculous in this scene. A Jolly Rancher? Really? Lex is a bit more subtle and smart when intimidating people, like doing a hardcore workout during an interview, highlighting brutal technology in front of others that he can use against them, or having a dinner where he would throw a severed head onto the table to show what happens to people who frick with him.

A piece of candy? Really? Something that someone can buy for 2 fricking cents? Every iteration of Luthor would beat the dog shite out of him for such bullshite.

Right...he wants to drop thermonuclear bombs on the poles of Mars to make the climate hospitable for inhabitation, and he's going to get there on ICBMs he buys from Russia. Not crazy at all. :use:

Except he didn't do it to another Luthor - he did it to a freaking Senator. Who did nothing in return because he was too intimidated.
