Yep. He's certainly likes to put on the facade of being all-powerful, but in reality he's quite weak as long as the houses are squabbling amongst themselves. Sure, he's got the best army in the galaxy, but not much good that will do you if the Landsraad decide you're no longer useful.

Same, didn’t want spoilers. The reason I say a Cymeks and not the things you mention is because those are post war beings and the “reckoning” angle would suggest some type of revenge or last ditch effort to regain power.

But I don’t and I won’t but it does regarding the planet I mentioned. You don’t watch any of this stuff yet you’re always trying to police the way people talk. How fascistic of you.

You don't have a good grasp of time if you don't understand how a planet can change in 10,000 years. 12,000 years ago earth was in an ice age and there were less than 5 million humans alive

I’m going by the source material dipshit. The reason these people are what they are is because they survived this planet. The Sadau were there before the show takes place, you don’t know what you’re talking about as usual.

Ah, ok I got you. Yeah, that's an interesting theory. I was wondering if the "reckoning" was supposed to be a reference to the end of humanity that the Golden Path was supposed to avoid, since Desmon Hart came to some mystical revelation after his encounter with the sandworm. As in, maybe this guy was like an anti-Kwisatz Haderach of some sort. But your theory makes way more sense, especially since this is so soon after the Jihad. And honestly, it would be way more interesting.

I was trying to make sense of what’s happened with him. Surviving the worm, his ability to basically cook people, his initial reaction to the AI and his seemingly unique view and contrast to the BG. Dayla or whatever her name is constantly talks about moving forward and the future so if he’s diametrically opposed to them he could be something from the past. What triggered the thought was the “reckoning” and fire embers in the vision which seems to point directly to him. I could he way off but that’s where I landed on how he could’ve done what he did.

they are who they are because of the harshness of tribal warfare

Did your patented quick wiki fandom skim I see. But that’s not only besides the point it’s also not true. Ecology is a major theme in Dune and the conditions and dangers of the planet are highlighted much more than the tribal strife.

agreed. but Salusa Secundus was the imperial capital before it was a prison planet. It wouldn't make sense for it to be the capital before if it was as inhospitable as you apparently think it is needed to be portrayed to not break your head lore

And before any of that there were people living in the harshest of conditions on the planet so this idea that the brutal climate happened after is just incorrect. Again there are images of the palace as described in the books.

Yeah, I didn't really know what to make of it. But then again, I've only read Frank's books, not Brian's. I don't remember anything like that from Frank's books, as he was very grounded with his portrayal of seemingly "supernatural" aspects of the universe. Prescience and gene memory were still quasi-science based. This feels very different. Desmond does feel anchored to the past, but I'm still struggling to see how he could burn people within the confines of natural laws. Feels like they're moving from outlandish but somewhat believable physical ideas to straight up magic.

Ragnar and Robert Baratheon in same show?
1) I immediately recognized Ragnar and love that he still plays that semi-crazy eyed character where you can't quite tell if he's a friend or he's about to stick a knife in you (and he's probably not sure himself)
2) Where is the breast plate stretcher?

I'm just glad we have a new "lore" for people to bitch about.

Wait. Rewatching. Why did Ragnar use thumpers to summon the worm?

Ah, true. Haven't read that book, but I'm vaguely familiar. Brian really ran the series into the ground.

Ok you super emo nerd frick.
I'm a casual dune fan but in your super duper larpy mind, let's connect this possible timeline. You may want to put down your fleshlight for a minute to ponder.
SS is a shithole planet that is eventually terraformed to the point its a decent spot to be emperor.
Fast forward 10k years, post nukes, it's back to a shithole planet where the ms13 are trained.
Now feel free to pick your fleshlight back up and tune out the normal folks.
