Yea WW2 was her hot peak. I forgot about that. Scream as well. Guess I have a thing for the nerd English teacher.

I’m not sure DD gets made without Drew though. She was instrumental in getting the money for it. Her production company took a chance on it.

Yep. Very poignant. You realize the ripple effects one person can have on other’s lives.

The director's cut does a good job incorporating this. I did not really get it until that was overlayed onto the movie.
Thanks. it's on Peacock. I'll have to watch it and see what I've been missing.

It touches on God, predestination, time travel, portals to interdimensional realms, mind control.

The whole movie feels to me like it’s trying to convey a message of religion and NWO mind control, but I can’t quite articulate it fully.

He filmed the Jim Cunningham “motivational speaker” infomercial scene’s on his own ranch haha, and apparently he had a good onset rapport with the director, helping him work through some growing pains of never having directed a movie before.

Killing Moon as opener is better than that INXS song

I agree. And I actually listened to both of them separately last night to make that conclusion.

Another thing on this though, the version I watched this past time had The Killing Moon playing at the party right after Donnie got with his girl. So the lyrics of the song and the implications of the song title definitely makes more sense at the Halloween party…

It’s an excellent movie & Drew was well cast for her small role.

The extended edition makes it easier to understand...I'm not sure it makes it better.

The first time I watched it was before the extended edition was available...and I wasn't sure what it was I just watched, but it was still compelling.

Once you understand what's going on, it's one of the most compelling movies ever. Loved it, front to back. From the main family, to Swayze, to his fanatical teacher, to Noah Wyle..not sure Firestarter was the best choice for the female teacher. But outside of that it's a perfect little indie movie.

Was Kitty a groomer for Jim Cunningham? That’s the vibe I got on this viewing, in light of real world events. Plus the director based the town in this movie on his hometown in Virginia, close to the DC action. And they allude to a child porn ring in the news clip when Cunningham is being arrested.

What seems to connect the dots, however, is the Mad World scene… right after they show Cunningham crying all alone, it pans to Kitty and she is sitting alone on her bed fretting about something. Which that actress has the market cornered on “fretful mother” roles in a LOT of movies.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it and she’s just a dumb divorcee with too much anxiety.

I need to watch it again now that im in my 30s. Saw it on video right after it came out and thought it was good even if i couldn’t completely grasp everything since i was like 15. Frank’s voice is probably still pretty spooky after all these years.

I think that scene is about them having a reaction to the alternative timeline. IIRC, Cunningham was busted in the alternative timeline, so the crying version at the end was a pedo reflecting on how terrible he is after seeing the reactions to his arrest in the alt timeline.

I don't remember what Kitty suffered in the alt timeline so someone would have to refresh me.

That's why when Donnie's mom and Jenna Malone see each other they kind of just wave. Like they are both sad but they know things would be worse if Donnie didn't sacrifice himself to close the loophole/alt timeline. That's why I said earlier it's like a IYKNK scenario.

This makes sense. I watched the director’s cut twice last weekend to study it. Looks like I’m gonna need a third viewing.
