I think there are enough film buffs here on this board the thing is the buffs don't really start any threads so we're only left to comment on the ones that are started.

I don't think it has anything to do with poor taste. It's just a broader topic with broader appeal than something like BE. Like Freauxzen, I don't have HBO either...if I did, I would've definitely checked out BE by now. Same with Game of Thrones as well.

Also, the topic of zombies and the zombie apocalypse is more of a cult-ish following, so people get passionate about it as a general subject, rather than discussing the show specifically. And like someone said, most show discussion is about the bad parts of it because it's easier to do that than praise something over and over.

Also, I've gotten lots of solid lesser-known movie suggestions from here, and most of them I've thoroughly enjoyed watching. I think there are definitely some good discussions about all different kinds of movies on here...and those discussions often lead to people picking up suggestions on things they normally wouldn't have known about.

I do agree that the threads about great older movies don't go as long as other threads, but there is still some decent discussion within them. Good example is my Casablanca thread.

Haha I guess I'm just repeating myself. From your thread:

Now you just need to take the next step and watch other classic movies.

It seems a lot of people watch Casablanca or Hitchcock movies find out they like them a whole lot but then don't venture out any further.

No, but seriously. If you've seen and loved Casablanca you really do owe it to yourself to watch To Have and Have Not.

Cool deal! You're defiantly becoming more of a classics fan. I think most people who think they don't like classic movies just haven't seen the right ones that fit their genre interest.

It's not really defiant. I'm open to it.*
