Also, just a heads up, the whole movie was shot in that gritty and shakey style. Think "Saving Private Ryan".

My understanding is the film is essentially a metaphor for the apartheid system in South Africa.

It is, but District 6 is a large incident from the apartheid system.

I have several friends from RSA, and we've had some excellent conversations on racial topics. I'm certain that this movie will evoke some feelings for some of them, if it's what the critics and you guys are saying.

Good arse movie. Maybe you didn't like it because your brain can't comprehend that sort of information.

It's ok, isn't The Little Mermaid out on DVD?

Saw it this weekend without knowing anything at all about it going in. Friends drug me to it all I was told is that it was some movie about aliens.

It was kind of a mix between Alien Nation and Starship Troopers. Started out like a documentary part social satire then seemed like it was gonna take a turn for horror but then veered into action for the second half. The whole movie is shot with a hand held camera which I didn't care for, that fine for a tv show like Arrested Development but not a motion picture.

I won't revel any plot elements other than the one thing I found odd was that the aliens understood english and the humans understood alien speak but neither could speak each others language.

Overall I like it and it seems obvious they are setting up for a sequel.

That probably has to do with the inability of human vocal chords to produce the sounds that they were making and vice versa.
