Does this device come with it once you subscribe to DirectTV Stream? We currently have an Apple TV. Is this a similar device?

Possibly making the switch but it looks like you only get free access to ESPN Unlimited/Disney+/Hulu if you have the Gemini device.

Just get the gemini device and dont plug it in. You still get the apps for free.

But yes, It acts just like a roku\apple tv and has it's own remote.

I'm in a similar situation and have looked into DirecTV Stream.

My understanding is that only the Disney/Hulu portion requires the Gemini. You still get full access to ESPN Unlimited without it. They are giving a $10/month credit which is the cost of 1 Gemini so it offsets that cost. Gemini comes with it's own remote and acts like a Firestick or Roku. If you have AppleTV box it will do the same thing, but I don't think DirecTV will give you access to the Disney+/Hulu features because you didn't order their device. You could include the Gemini in your order but use your Apple TV and you should still get those features, but you are paying $10/month for it. Not sure how long the $10 credit lasts.

you need the Gemini Air to get the full promotions. If they are giving you a $10 credit each month then i would recommend one. you just need one and you can watch via the app on your Roku, smart tv, etc.

I love the Gemini remote because i like having buttons for changing channels, and voice remote.
