Guys, seriously.. Gellar's not real. Or to make it more clear for others. Gellar's not alive anymore. He existed at one point and is no longer among the living. Don't try to read too much into that. They're gonna throw a twist here and there for the rubes but until Gellar has an interaction with anyone other than Travis, he is absolutely not real.
While that makes a neat twist, it sure seemed like the chick Travis had nailed (Angel of Death) reacted to Gellar after Travis left her in the kitchen after being told she was part of God's plan. I'd have to go back and see, but if she did react directly to him and they go this route, it's pretty sloppy.
I don't mind a cool little 6th Sense twist like that, but the show/movie has to be an honest broker with the audience while doing it. If they have allowed a few, even if tiny, instances of people seemingly react with the guy who isn't supposed to be there, then it really isn't much of a twist.
If she didn't, then good for them... Cool idea.

I'm telling you, I've watched Gellar closely, especially that scene and noone is acknowledging him at all. The only evidence people have to think he's real is the random holding a coffee cup or Travis making a phone call which is really nothing.
Travis is most likely a schizo and the personality that Dexter talked to in the car last night really isn't capable of killing but his other self is. During the walk away from his car, Travis seemed to really want to quit until he talked himself out of it, via "Gellar".

Travis also saw blood on Gellar's head when they were praying. So obviously if Travis hallucinated that he could be hallucinating Gellar entirely.

Everything points to Gellar being dead except the phone call. I don't know how you call a dead person. Now Travis may simply just be insane and talked to himself on the phone.

They might be doing some kind of Fight Club thing where Travis believes he is talking to an imaginary figure. Sure, last night proved Gellar was around at one point, but maybe he's deceased now and lives on in Travis' mind. I think Travis has a book like the TA's that had descriptions and pictures and is bringing those scenarios to life.

Gellar is not real. Not one person has noticed him or even acknowledged him while being out in public.
If you watch the kitchen scene from last week's episode, you will notice that the waitress did not begin freaking out until Travis entered the kitchen. If Gellar was the one who removed the woman from the bed and tied her up, she would've been freaking out the entire time to alert Travis in the other room at the very least.
Additionally, Gellar touched the waitress multiple times during that scene, and not once did the waitress freak out. Again, if a man removed you from a bed while sleeping and tied you up, she would flip out every time Gellar touched her. She didn't even acknowledge it.
Also, how the hell would Gellar remove the woman from the bed without waking up Travis? Again, if she was being removed from the bed by a stranger, she would have been flipping out and awoken Travis. Assuming Travis is not a deep sleeper or was not unconscious, he would have noticed that she was being stolen from the bed. Travis is the one who tied her up.
The phone call from last night, IMO was fake. He didn't say he was speaking to Gellar. He said he was speaking to his mother. I think he is just crazy.
Just my 2 cents.

She never even looked at Gellar. I agree with the side that believes Gellar is in Travis' head (now).
What if Gellar is still alive (clueless to what Travis is actually doing) and they find him and he helps to capture Travis?

I guess I'm the only person who thinks Gellar is alive/real

it didnt really cross my mind too much until this thread. you guys make a very convincing case.
he HAD to have been real at one point. the cops have his picture and background. whether hes alive now or not is the question. very strong case for travis imagining him ala dexter and harry

Gellar WAS real. He used to be the professor at that Tennessee school. But he has died over the last 3 years, which is why nobody has heard or seen him lately.
I think Travis is just carrying out Gellar's mission/prophecy/whatever you want to call it.

-I was thinking there was something darker about Sam(Mos Def) that we weren't seeing yet, but I'm starting to think that he probably is just a sort of spiritual guide for Dexter.
I think Mos is there to show Dex that you can change your stripes...If you have a greater purpose than yourself to do so.
For Dex...his biggest guiding factor has been his father...maybe the bigger guide will be his son.

Did he kill Gellar? How'd Travis get the sword? How close was he to Gellar ? Does his sister have a clue about anything in her brother's life?

I just don't see this going in the Fight Club angle. There will be a BIG Gellar twist. Has Travis been doing his blog on the computer? Maybe his TA that Quinn banged.
Posted on 10/31/11 at 8:59 pm to Al Bundy Bulldog
Maybe Gellar is still alive...but living in the Bahamas or some shite...and the Gellar we see is Hanks twisted vision of Gellars message.
Maybe the TA was banging Hanks too....I mean who would frick Edward James Olmos' crusty arse?

The hot intern still is out there I think. Why have the story line with the hand if it goes away that easily? I'm sure she will come back.... Maybe as some twist.
