I relate to this on so many levels. I used to bust my arse at my job. I thought that hard work would be rewarded. It doesn't. Now, I dgaf. I do only as much as I have to to not be fired.

I used that quote with a group VP once. It didn't go over well. I hadn't had a raise in 5 years, and they kept cutting benefits and bonuses.

I lost my job about 2 years later. I was laid off though. I trained a guy to do my job, so I could do something else (like all the mgmt books say to do). The boss thought he could do without me, so he laid me off. The guy I trained promptly quit, as he thought I was treated poorly and saw the future ahead.

I had an issue where my finance dept was quoting prices in Excel, and they'd often not round to two decimal points.

I had the hardest time getting everyone to understand that customers can't pay us in fractions of pennies...so I simply started responding to emails with various Office Space memes with references to "fractions of a penny"

Supremely quotable once you've worked in a place like this. I always feel sad for a person when they don't get the references.
