Also was in Tammy and the Bachelor with Leslie Nilsen
And how popular was the name "Tammy" before this film? I'm sure it existed but T&TB must have helped enormously in getting it known
And not just the movie -- the theme song "Tammy" was a #1 hit for DR, though I prefer the version sung by the Ames Brothers over the opening credits
Ames Brothers - "Tammy"

I can't imagine the grief she went through the last 24 hours

Which kind of makes sense, as Reynolds hails from El Paso (although they moved to California when she was in grade school) and Leslie Nielson is from Canada - although he was about the least Canadian actor to ever cross over - I mean, he was a "no shite" Canadian - he lived in the NW Territory, his father was a Mountie, and his older brother was the Deputy PM, eh?

Has to be a terrible feeling outliving a child. Sad.

at least she didn't have to bury her child

Lorne Greene
John Vernon
John Colicos
I believe Nielsen studied with Greene, who after WWII taught acting (as well as radio and TV announcing) in Toronto. Vernon may have studied with him as well. (Both Nielsen and Vernon guested with LG on Bonanza).
Perhaps Lorne helped them get the "eh" out of their voices.

Kirk Douglas is doing all of this.

I'm pretty sure this is true. Not sure about Vernon and Colicos. Vernon I kind of remember is Canadian because he was in the classic "Canadian" stuff Animal House (well, it's "half" Canadian) and Heavy Metal.
Colicos, you're right, I never think of him as Canadian, either. Opposite Greene in Battlestar Galactica, to boot.

Have no idea who that is.
Seriously?
Debbie Reynolds still looked pretty good for her age. She must have been beyond what sad is losing her daughter.

By the way, Tony Burton also died in 2016.

It's true. All over the internet. I can't copy and paste for some reason right now.
