clothes were still pretty 90s and very baggy compared to what's in these days. You would be able to tell pretty easily.
Nothing compared to prior shifts though:
( note- These are just broad examples. Every decade has various sub styles like punk, mod, or hip hop)
50s
60s
70's
80s (the 80's were, by far, the most difficult to find a stereotypical look. Most of the examples on google are that awful neon look that was only poplar for a year or two at the tail end of the 80's. I'm not happy with this one but I just gave up)
90s
00s
whatever we're calling this decade
My main takeaway from this is that the first 4 (50s-80's) show large swings and dramatic changes. The last 3 (90'-now) are much more alike.

Style wise the hipster generation is drastically different. If you wore your sisters jeans and mom’s shirt in the 2000s then you’d be considered gay without a doubt.
Clean shaven was still the norm. Scruff was comsidered dirty and 50% of males didn’t walk around with Bin Laden beards.
Also the trans and gay look wasn’t tolerated.
I’ve never seen the amount of people with tattoos as I see now.
There is definitely drastic fad changes.

Or at least emo.

While big bushy confederate soldier beards weren't in style, milder stubble beards were.
