Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive director David Lynch tells us he is hoping to find backers for his under-the-radar animated project Snootworld, even if Netflix recently “rejected” his “fairytale” pitch

quote:

Lynch was philosophical about the reasons for that decision: “Snootworld is kind of an old fashioned story and animation today is more about surface jokes. Old fashioned fairytales are considered groaners: apparently people don’t want to see them. It’s a different world now and it’s easier to say no than to say yes.”

He’s working on it with Caroline Thompson of the Addams and Edward Scissorhands. “It’s a story that children and adults can appreciate”

I can't imagine telling David Lynch "no, we're not interested in your idea."

Aint that the truth. Modern animation and popcorn movies in general are nothing more that formulaic stories riddled with silly one-liners for cheap laughs. The LCD approach is strong right now.

"David, its ok but you left out people of color and people with new and exciting ideas about sex and modern culture, oh and your lead character needs to be a female".
