It took six years to get a ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. You won’t have to wait nearly as long for the next one.

HBO announced on Thursday that it has renewed Larry David’s misanthropic comedy for a tenth season. Season 10 is expected to begin filming in the spring. “As I’ve said many times,” said David in a statement, “when one has the opportunity to annoy someone, one should do so.”

Added HBO programming president Casey Bloys, “We are thrilled that Larry will be back with his uniquely acerbic wit and comedic sensibility.”

While the news comes sooner than perhaps expected, it isn’t surprising: David told EW before the launch of season 9 he had such a fun time filming the comedy’s return episodes that he was “strongly considering” doing more. And earlier this month, executive producer Jeff Schaffer hinted, “We are talking about talking about it. I promise if we do it again, it won’t be as long of a wait.”

Starring David as a heightened version of himself, Curb launched in 2000, with subsequent seasons airing every year or two through season 8 in 2011. The show then went on indefinite hiatus, with HBO announcing n 2016 that David was reviving the show. Season 9, which concluded on Dec. 3, reunited the cast of David, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Susie Essman, and JB Smoove, as well as featuring such guest stars as Elizabeth Banks, Lauren Graham, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nick Offerman, and Bryan Cranston.

Why did the announcement for another season happen relatively quickly this time around? “Before we came back it was, ‘You’ve been away for so long,'” Schaffer tells EW. “Now it’s ‘You’re coming back so soon?’ The TV scheduling Gods are very hard to please! The truth is, Larry had so much fun last season that he wants to do it again. Usually, at the end of a shoot, he’s absolutely sure he’s never doing it again. But this season was different, during our last days of shooting he was already thinking about reloading.”

Schaffer also said that that entire cast will return and hinted that perhaps they will be able to “catch up with a few more old friends from the Curb universe.”

Not surprising. This season was just as good as previous seasons.

Fantastic news. I’ve found myself rewatching several episodes from the latest season already.

Let Larry, Larry until he can’t anymore. The world needs social assassins now more than any time before

Rewatching season 1 and Bob Odenkirk is in it. Interesting character. Tia.

The best part is we know Larry isn't going to film another season until he feels he has the right material for it. This is the reason why I didn't mind the hiatus between the last two seasons because Larry isn't going to write/film a new season just fill air time for HBO.

So if he's coming back in 2018, he has good stuff in the works.

I thought the only thing that felt "off" was the production? It just had a different feel to it for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on. But after an episode I was used to it and loved the season.

I didn't think this season was as good as season's past, but I still loved it. We need Larry being politically incorrect right now for the sake of humor!.

I felt the same way too but I think it's only a product of bring made in 2017.

Everything is in hd now as opposed to the basic cable look when the show first came out.

That, and everyone is more made up. Look at earlier seasons. Particularly the women like Cheryl and Susie...they were a lot more plain and homely looking back then. Same thing happened with The Office.
