I've seen the 02 film and the 98 TV series with Gerard Depardieu. I actually didn't know they were only 4 years apart until just now. That Depardieu series looks aged compared to the film.

Would love to watch this version as well. Looks like it releases in France in late June. Hopefully it gets a release here too.

The 2002 version with Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce is one of my favorites. Pearce in particular is awesome as the backstabbing best friend. Also starred Richard Harris and a young Henry Cavill.

I might need to give this rewatch. YEARS ago I read the full length book and was in love with it and couldn't wait to watch it on the screen. I can't remember anything at all about the film but I do remember being really let down. That was probably my fault, I likely had expectations built too high especially since I had JUST finished the book right before. I'd probably enjoy it more now.

This is currently streaming on MGM+ in French.
I watched it with subtitles. It's a damn good adaptation. I thoroughly enjoyed.

I still haven't seen the PBS miniseries, I'll have to try that next.
