If you mean why the writers did that, I read somewhere that Dino Stamatapoulos is actually a writer on the show and didn't really like being on camera that much, so he lobbied to write himself out of the show. Not sure how accurate that it, but that's what I read.

I had brought up how Dino didn't really want to play Star Burns any more, that was based on DVD commentary from the past two seasons. He's really good friends with Dan Harmon, and though he's not an official writer (except for the Abed Claymation Christmas) he's been a consultant on the show since the beginning.
Someone else mentioned that he wanted to work more on Frankenhole and possibly bring back Morel Orel, his two claymation shows on Cartoon Network, so he wanted to decrease his workload on Community.
