SIAP

First 3 episodes available now. Loosely based on Misery (see thread from yesterday if you're unfamiliar) LINK

#CastleRock Season 2 is currently #Fresh at 82% on the #Tomatometer, with 11 reviews.

Rotten Tomatoes

Trailer at link above.

quote:

This time around, the scope of the series will expand outside of the town’s borders to the Somali community of Jerusalem’s Lot — the small town featured in the vampire-themed Salem’s Lot.

quote:

Most notable, though, is the character of Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan) — a role which won Kathy Bates the Oscar in 1991 — leading the new season. How did the young nurse become the kidnapping psychopath, who terrorizes author Paul Sheldon (James Caan) in the Rob Reiner film adaptation Misery? These new episodes allegedly will set out to answer that question.

Wait....Salem's Lot is a Somali community? Tell me that's a misprint. Please.

Why isn’t it in 4K? The first season is on my Apple TV.

ETA: They fixed it, and the episodes are now available in 4K. I spent about 25 minutes online with a chat whore running tests so they’d believe that I was correct. In the end I told her to pass info to higher ups. I’m choosing to believe that I alone was able to get this problem fixed for everyone on the planet with a Hulu subscription.

Bump. Watched the first episode last night and it was great. She pulls off the Annie Wilkes character perfectly.. even her walk is spot on.

I watched all 3 episodes. It's pretty great. Liking it more than Season 1 and I liked Season 1 a lot.

First three episodes are fantastic. This season is a little easier on the brain than season one, so thats a plus. Lizzy Caplain is mesmerizing. Every few sentences, she hits everything perfect, and she sounds exactly like Kathy Bates.

Haven’t seen the first season. Do they run together or are they separate plots?

Essentially separate plots. You could watch them simultaneously.

The only thing connecting them is the town of Castle Rock. This show is essentially a King anthology. It's really good

Sadly, it's true. They explain the resettlement effort in the first available episodes.

It's an anthology with a common geographic location. Castle Rock, ME is practically its own character. There's an allusion to the events in the S1 pilot in S2 E3 involving the warden of Shawshank.

Are people actually upset about this?

Apparently every movie or TV show needs to stay away controversy now?

Seeing the reaction to Watchmen and now this tells me that both sides are unbearable now

Newsflash, art has always echoed society and world events.

If you can't get past that then it must be miserable for you.

Except it’s not. It fits the storyline (the connection to Pop Merrill). And timing (the show isn’t based in the 70s when the book was originally published). We’ve had similar Somalian communities here in Kentucky since 1994. About 3400 were resettled here.

ETA: A quick Google search tells you the Somali community was also resettled in Maine around the early 00s. About 10,000 all together.
