I just got dragged to see it and I'm pretty sure that that was the worst movie that I have ever paid money to see...

We (my girlfriend and I) wanted to walk out but we were with a group so we stayed. The entire theater was laughing the entire time... Acting sucked, cheesy high school prom bullshite, no one was scared or took it seriously. Just another shitty Hollywood remake to put some meat in the seats and make some coin.

Avoid it if you can

This one supposedly follows the novel more than the others

Seems to be a running thing with Stephen King. People option his book. Then they make the movie somewhat different and it is seen as a classic horror movie. Years later either ScyFy channel or just a regular remake is done that follows the book much closer. It is panned as sucking. This was done with Carrie, Children of the Corn, and Pet Sematary.

Saw it. It's a little different than the original and the book. Acting is fantastic. I would recommend it.

I totally disagree with you.

Have you ever read a Stephen King novel? He loves hitting on the stereotypes hard...I attributed the "cheesy high school prom" stuff to that. Other than that, it had some funny parts...but were supposed to be funny.

I thought the acting was great too. I've been a fan of Chloe Moretz ever since seeing her in Let Me In.

The only things I didn't like were the excessive use of CGI, and the way the movie made her powers look more like witchcraft than telekinesis at times (she gestured with her hands or arms whereas Sissy Spacek just stared and stuff happened).

I know it is probably the same thing as the old version

it's not a remake, it's a new movie based on the book

Probably will see it soon along with Bad Grandpa. Liked the original although haven't seen it in years. Can't trust reviews on this one since people like to shite on remakes just because they're remakes
