no, there's the illusion that happened, but it didn't. so in the beginning she tells him that, but then her ego and dern's gets even more people killed...a lot more

so after poe leads a failed mutiny (which i'm pretty sure he would be executed for) he just listens and goes "oooooh" but then their super plan gets everyone killed meaning poe's instincts were correct, but his plan wasn't going to work either. so no lesson is learned by poe, in fact his ostensibly negative tendencies should be reinforced...and since dern was going to kill herself anyway, why didn't they just move everyone onto one ship and then ram the empty ship through the star destroyer

this is pretty much the worst military outfit ever.

Which tells you that the entire thing was manufactured to give you a particular feeling, or at the very least, it feels like it is. Meaning, whoever was in charge was filtering connected plot points, through specific ideas, to make sure that they gave you a specific implication regardless of its affect on the logic of the plot.

conceptually it's what I hate most about the movie

they try to trick you into thinking something happened when it didn't

it tries to trick the audience into thinking it's different, but it relies on images and exact scenarios from the OT

I've never seen a movie that was such a lie, and I could've stomached all that but the movie is such a bloated piece of shite. there's stuff in this movie that's infinitely worse than the prequels. then there's stuff in this movie (rey and ren) that is infinitely better than anything in the prequels

and yet I hate the prequels far less.

Additionally, I think opinions on the prequels have cooled because they told a story that we sort of knew. There was a definite end.

Fans had hopes for what this universe can do, and TFA put some good pieces into place. RJ decided to wipe all the pieces away again, and put worse stuff in their places and that's what the universe is being built from now.

There's no going back (to the island!). And that's where the anger is coming from, I think.

It takes away from the story when the focus is on the diversity, not the story.

Is it though?

If you're watching the film and you think "all these women/blacks/Asians are just here to further some liberal/SJW agenda," isn't that a personal problem?

I understand if the criticism is because a character/plot sucks, but laying that at the feet of diversity seems a bit played out.

yeah. I mean nothing ruins the OT for me, but I can never watch force awakens without groaning knowing what happens next, and I can't watch any future star wars movies built off of this piece of shite

so basically, star wars is dead and has been for 30 years. I just didn't realize it until last week.

There will always be the books...

Thankfully.

The characters/plot sucks BECAUSE of the forced diversity. Maybe if Disney has tried to make a Star Wars film first with diversity instead of a diversity film with some Star Wars thrown in the movie wouldn’t suck. But they sacrificed a good story to push an agenda.

I'm not understanding the analogy. a sequel builds off of the plot and characters and events from the previous film

one piece of shite film and everything down the line is ruined.

Rose's character would suck if she were asian, white, black, brown, orange. Finn's character too. We get it, guys. It chaps your arse that 2 of 8 Star Wars movies have more non-white good guys than the usual.

I'm questioning your resolve to not watch another Star Wars film. You wrote off the NFL too, yet you comment on it as if you haven't missed a beat.

People complain about a female protagonist

Who has complained about Rey? Seriously you guys just make shite up to drive your narrative.

I'm just wondering why the Resistance is so diverse, yet the First Order has more white dudes than your typical Klan rally.

I've yet to see an explanation for that.

Rose was a terrible character, but her race had zero to do with it. And Chinese people probably appreciate seeing a Chinese person in the movie.

You realize that actress is Vietnamese-American, right?

I think they wanted fisher put aside because she’s such a terrible actress having not worked in a long time, but dern can’t deliver those shitty lines either

Laura Dern has always been a shitty actress to me.
