I don't disagree with this possibility - of course, what does Walt care if he tells the guy the literal truth - it's pretty clear that Walt thinks - "I made 52, which is one more than I thought I would make - today is a good day to die."
Although he's convinced himself of this at this point, that doesn't mean he won't balk at the moment of decision. I think he may even be aware of this character flaw and he ricin may be for just that eventuality - he takes it, there's no turning back and he's on the clock.
