The guy who moved his king is about to lose his knight to a pawn. Poor decision.

Maybe that's another thing Vince was going for with the whole chess scene

What are those trophies behind Huell?

Good eye. I missed that as I assumed he was going to move his knight and did not pay attention to the fact that he moved his king. Now I really wonder what that means as opposing pawn is sure to be crowned a queen and he is in deep chit.

Love the chess board reference. Didn't catch that during my first watch.
Also, what should we make of the shot of Jessie with one side of his face mutilated at the end? Perhaps it's just repeated imagery, but it's good writing and certainly tied in.
For reference, the pink bear's final look and Vince's were the same.
Now, Jesse has the same look. One side of the face, etc.
I also found this old quote from Vince Gilligan about the meaning of the pink bear. Could tie in well to Jessie now.
"The teddy bear eyeball that Walt found in his swimming pool is symbolic. It's very, very symbolic. However, I'm not sure I can tell you with 100% certainty of what the symbolism is, what it represents...On the face of it, when we were coming up with that eye as an image, it probably, represented some form of the eye of the universe, the eye of god, the eye of morality, I suppose judging Walter White...And so symbolism like the eyeball, I'm not sure what it means to me completely but I'm always interested in hearing what it means to viewers of the show. I guess if you're going to hold my feet to the fire, what it means to me is the eye of God on Walt. If not necessarily judging him, nonetheless watching him, keeping tabs on him. And then the question: If that is what the symbolism stands for, then why does Walt keep that eye? Why does he keep it in his drawer versus discarding it?"

That's what I'm saying. Who has been a pawn in the game against WW, but is going to step up to be the queen?

I think the chess board just reflects what already happened. Jesse and Hank(the pawns) had Walt(KING) cornered but he got out of it.

re: the chess board, the white knight is pinned by both a pawn and bishop. I'm thinking the knight is hank, and he was sacrificed so that Heisenberg could live a little longer.
So Jack (the nazi) is the bishop, who is the black king? Jesse? Claudia? Todd?

Reading through the thread now, so I'll just keep this running post open and add my thoughts (spoilers, maybe, because I talk about the previews for next week):
we were left with Skylar and Jr absolutely hating Walt, it appears. I wonder if Skylar has a change of heart. It seemed like she caught on to what Walt was doing with the phone call, trying to put all the blame on himself. The way he talked and what he said was really out of character for him in terms of talking to Skylar. We have never seeen him that angry/mean talking to her before. Also, when she realizes that he left the baby for her right after he left, this may make her come down and realize that he still did those two things to save Skylar.
We have heard several times that once you call the "vaccuum man," there can be no contact with your previous life whatsoever. Does this mean there can be no contact with Saul, even though he knows about it? Walt definitely goes back and talks to him, as we see in the previews.
In what way do people see Grey Matter coming back and playing a role? I keep seeing it brought up, just don't know how it fits in.
It's amazing to see how interwoven this show is in terms of things happening in later seasons that tie into things from earlier seasons. Do you think this was all planned out from day one? For example, having Walt fall over and zoom in on his face the way they zoomed in on Gus face in season 4? Do you think they knew they were going to do that back in season 4? Pretty neat.
We are all raving about this episode. Do we think either one of the lat two will be able to top it?
It's ironic how a lot of people cannot understand why the Nazi's want to keep cooking meth now that they all have mor than enough money to live the rest of their lives on and then some. Sounds like someone we all know.......
There's big discussion about him being pure evil from this point on. But he did give that waitress a $100 tip. That's pretty nice.
For all the talk about whether or not Walt dies at the end, I think there is an interview with VG a while back or maybe Cranston, where they say that in the end Walt does indeed die. Yea, there's the symbolism "Walt is dead, but Heisenberg is not" but the interview made it pretty clear, the ending wasn't going to be ambiguous and he would die at the end.
People keep saying Walt's cancer is gone because of the hair in the opening scene. It may just be a disguise. Assuming he went through with the guy who makes you disappear, he would also have to change his appearance somewhat.
Maybe he decides to go get revenge, because if he dies, no big deal, teh cancer is gonig to get him soon anyway. So he goes and is successful at his revenge, and now he can let the cancer take him. But then the cancer goes away. So he's left alone, and alive. He kills himself.
Anyway. I spent most of the day reading the entire thread off and on. These are jsut a few of my thoughts while doing so.

Baby Holly. She looked pretty pissed to be abandoned in that fire truck and doesn't look to be the type to forgive and forget.
Which makes her "Mama...mama..." another Vince Gilligan clue! She's not wanting Skyler...she's referring to herself. The head Mama (ie: queen)

I don't know for sure, but I think that was Walt talking to Saul about his plan BEFORE he goes to disappear. He went to Saul to get the number of the guy and tell him what was gonna happen and maybe tie up some loose ends and then left

Or maybe Saul meets him at the guy's place or something.
I'm guessing it might take a day or two to get all of the new fake stuff together, pick a place, etc so Walt probably has to lie low in town for a while before truly disappearing.

Also pretty tough imagining Lydia as a pawn. If anything, she had the characteristics of a knight.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I remember Saul saying that the guy brings whoever is disappearing to a safe house while the details and plans get finalized. I guess Saul could meet him there before he skips town.
