Audience score 81.
The RT has gone from 97% up to 98%.
And the audience score has gone from 81% down to 76%.

Booksmart premiered at SXSW to universal praise, and currently sits at an incredible 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. But audiences did not respond as favorably, giving it a B+ CinemaScore. The comedy, which played best on the West Coast, had a largely female audience (61 percent), with a massive 74 percent of the audience falling between the ages of 18 and 34 years old.

Did Olivia Wilde really make a call to gender to try and save her movie
quote:
Wilde tweeted Saturday, "Anyone out there saving @Booksmart for another day, consider making that day TODAY. We are getting creamed by the big dogs out there and need your support. Don't give studios an excuse not to green-light movies made by and about women."
That is just sad and pathetic.
I want to like Olivia but I had to stop following her on twitter because she's not a good tweeter.
The weekend numbers look 'OK' to me. $3,469 per theater against some stiff competition including a big Aladdin opening. I felt like Brightburn had more marketing. Also for a teen-oriented movie the R rating hurt attendance with the younger teens. She really shouldn't have sent that tweet. It's all about framing expectations.

So, you have an issue with a director asking people to go see her movie? Seems logical.

This board has a sizable amount of people who piss and moan about how comic movies and big budget sequels and remakes dominate the box office yet when a director tries to get people out to something different y'all shite all over that that too?

Sorry that was a little misleading. I stopped following her on Twitter a couple of years ago, nothing to do with that particular tweet. I liked the movie, and I'm fine with her politics, I just don't quite like her personality.

This is a male dominated board and the film was made with only teenaged girls in mind. Do you really think most of us would be interested in seeing this?

No, but why complain so much about a movie you're never going to see?
Posted on 6/2/19 at 9:11 am to TouchedTheAxeIn82
My mom and dad went and saw it, both said it was god awful. Dad said he wanted to leave after 15min. In your face with the SJW shite, and it wasn’t even remotely funny

Are you twelve? Do you often take movie recommendations from your parents? Especially movies marketed to teenage girls?

I'm not complaining about anything.

As a woman, this plea turns me off. Sorry,, but provide a concrete reason other than gender to see your movie.

Then why are you responding to a post that was a comment on the hypocrisy of people who complain about too many superhero movies, sequels, and remakes but then turn around and bash Olivia Wilde for trying to get people to see a movie that isn't a remake, sequel, or about superheroes?

She provided many of the course of the film's marketing campaign and release; she just didn't in that one isolated tweet that it would be silly to assume is all the director has ever said about her own film.

what an absurd post. My old man knows far more about what makes a quality movie than 99% of the shitheads on this board. Just because it’s a chick movie doesn’t mean it can’t be good - look at Mean Girls and Pitch Perfect. I figured the Stalker avi meant you knew a thing or two, but perhaps not.

I mostly tried to shame someone for coming in hard on a movie he hasn't seen by using his parents as a screen -- a childish move. Of course parents can have good opinions. Then again, would your parents use a phrase like "sjw shite", like homeboy said?
And I'm on record as saying this movie is good. I don't know why people who haven't seen it keep showing up to bitch about its politics.

They are literally the only people I know irl that have seen it
And he obviously didn’t say “sjw shite,” I paraphrased his words into that since y’all know what I’m talking about. It’d be one thing if it was heavy handed with the political hundrum but was still funny or well-made...but it doesn’t sound like that was the case.
