Anyone get a chance to check this out yet? I was thinking of renting it on apple tv. It looks like a good western flick with a solid cast.

I loved it. It's a slow burner, though. You have to be patient with it. It pays off in the end.

Kurt Russell in a western = fricking boss.

Same review here. In my home tonight, we had three people watching it - ages were 23, 47 and 64. It was no masterpiece, BUT, we all agreed it was a breath of fresh air. The acting and dialogue carried you through any scenes with less action. But, hold on to your seats for the last 45 minutes of literally "bone severing" jolts . The movie was a little over 2 hours, but it's length of time was barely noticeable as it held our interest due to the acting, dialogue and the build up to the finale.

Pretty good movie all in all. Solid cast

Kinda crazy how it goes from polite and completely non violent to GOD ALMIGHTY DAMN about 3/4 of the way through

Bump. Trailer looks pretty damn interesting but I fear it shows too damn much as usual.

Spoiler:

At the end of the movie when the old man throws a stone from the burial ground does that signify that they are going to come after them again?

Also does anyone have any idea whose gun fire that was in the distance at the end?

Just watched this...definitely worth a watch. I don't want to post any spoilers, so I'll just say I thought all four main characters played their role well. I hadn't seen Matthew Fox in years.

Just finished this movie and I absolutely loved it.

Genre bending and original.

Plus, I could watch Kurt Russell make a grilled cheese and enjoy it.

Highly recommend.

Good but not for everyone.

Some folks should know in advance this is The Searchers with a small dose of Cannibal Holocaust.

Geez, the guys at CHUD are whining over the direction and sparse extras / decor / cinematography . If you know the movie had a tight budget and a tight schedule then of course the movie isn't going to be loaded with extras and exceptional cinematography.

Lot shot from what I read after watching it.

No care.

Very good movie, especially in a dead era for westerns.

I'm still not sure why they went all Cannibal Holocaust. That will really turn some people off if they go in thinking they are watching a western.

I knew there was a gruesome kill in there and I still wasn't ready for that.

Seriously good movie. I enjoyed it. Cast very well too.

SPOILERS!!!!!!

I knew the dude was going to rescue the rest once they focused on them laying down the stones.

Some very gruesome scenes. But I think they fit the story well. Especially the cutting out the "jewelry". :-)

I rolled my eyes a little bit at the unbelievable ability of the savages to "howl" that loud. Made them not human when everything else was human. Felt like a little bit of supernatural ability.

Yeah. It was easy to figure that out with the constant rock drops.

This is the only thing that bugged me from a technical / Editing standpoint. The howl was over the top and didn't need to be.

Not really. I guess the opening scene was pretty brutal but they didn't show much. Most of the movie had no violence.

The gunshots were tame without exploding body parts so that one scene was more than a bit out of place along with the 3 seconds we see the "breeding stock."

It's obviously Kurt Russel's. He stayed behind to kill the final 3, knowing that he was going to die.

Me and wife watched it. We liked it. I was surprised at what happened when they got caught. Yikes

I thought the should have just had whistles instead how they did the jewelry thing
