It astounds me that after that amazing episode, the takeaways on social media are "F bombs!" and "homos!".

The thrust of my original post was in regards to how Star Trek has always pushed the envelope in terms of what is socially acceptable. I gave two examples from this episode. I could have also mentioned the "ethical treatment of animals outweighs saving human lives" argument that was presented. I also said that it didn't bother me and that I like the show, but whatever....flame on.

Not just referring to this thread. As I said, "on social media". Turns out a major problem of pushing the envelope is that people focus on that instead of how great the actual stories and performances are.
