Beverly Hills, 90210 (Original)

I started watching this again for the first time in years. I have vague memories of watching it as a kid because my sister was into it and the theme song was a flash of nostalgia. It's a pretty good show. For some reason, I remembered the characters being a lot more scandalous and slutty. I'm sure it was at the time but doesn't compare to how society has regressed in that span. Maybe they get that way as the series progresses. I'm still on season 1. Brandon is the show's moral compass.

Will forever be one of my favorite shows.
But damn they destroyed so many denim tree forests to make the mom jeans for that show

I remember sophmore year in H.S. - everyone returned from summer with sideburns.

Damn those jeans go up to the belly button. I just saw the episode where Brandon was conflicted for cheating on his test. Real edgy material. It has a Party of Five vibe feel to me being a 90s drama.

I remember looking up their ages one time. The girl who played Andrea was 29 when the series started.

He must have taken the show's cancellation hard.

If I were to guess, both shows had a summer season because they wanted to squeeze out as many as they could and there are only 4 years of high school.

Yeah it turned much more soap operaish after they graduated from high school.
And Valerie

I remember being about 9 years old and I watched SBTB every time it was on and after it ended I was surprised to see how slutty Kelly had become.

I've probably watched every episode almost as many times as SBTB, and I know exactly what you mean. Watching it as a youngster they all seemed like scandalous shite heads, but now as an adult it feels like they actually had pretty minimal problems and they were good kids, at least relative to my HS/College years.
It was mostly a friend outside the core group that would end up being the real dickbag, or Dillon McKay who I would never allow around my daughter either.

Has any one seen the remake for comparison? I'm sure that one is like Degrassi covering rape, drugs, etc.

I remember the episode where that nerdy kid killed himself and the whole build up to Donna and David finally having sex. It must have been weird for Aaron Spelling to have storyline about his daughter losing her virginity.
I was in 7th grade when this came out and I always thought the actors looked so much older than me considering they were in high school then I found out Luke Perry and Ian Ziering were about 35 at the time.

I know he was old but not 35. He sure as hell doesn't look 55 in Sharknado.
Did the nerdy kid die playing Russian Roulette? That sounds familiar.

It was suicide. He was friends with David when they were both nerds, then after the kid died David got cool and started banging Donna.

Classic episode.
I always remember the Steve steroid ep, the take back the night ep, the graduation ep when they covered the Hollywood sign with a West Bev Hi 94 homemade banner
Dylan McKay was a tortured soul
Also loved TAT being introduced a Valerie because it combined 90210 and SBTB and showed Kelly Kapowski all grow'd up

I never considered David a nerd. Even in the pilot he was just a young guy wanting to fit in with the older crowd.
