nestly didn't remember him in Bernie. Jack Black stole the show in that one

Jack black should have gotten an Oscar nomination. I have no idea how he was overlooked.

Bernie also gives maybe the best depiction of East Texas/Ark-La-Tex of any film I can remember. McCoughnahey's mom and other locals are as authentic as that area gets.

McCoughounahey also grew up in Longview, so I'd assume had lots of input with Linklater. LINK

Although not the greatest movie, I thought he did a very good job in Free State of Jones.

Bernie is so great, though its more of a Jack Black movie, and easily his best role. It's Linklater, and probably his most underrated film.

If you're watching for Matt himself, I go with Mud.

I don't know why Bernie never got the publicity push it deserved. I found it randomly once it hit DVD. I never even heard about it when it was in theaters.

The best movie of that bunch was TWoW, but he was literally on in it for that one scene.

Magic Mike is clearly the worst of the bunch.

Gotta be either Texas Chainsaw or Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

McCoughnahey in Magic Mike is a skeevy maniacal a-hole...its a great great part. Take out the dude stripping and that movie is really a really dark portrayal of that kind of life.
