Yeah, big difference in those panels.

No rape in KJ. Shot, paralyzed, stripped and photographed is rape enough.

Agreed. I'm not familiar with the first panels Rooad posted, but yeah...he clearly raped her there. I mean...he's zipping his pants back up and all but says it.

In KJ? Really nothing like that, unless you want to see it. As stated earlier, all we know is he shot her, removed her clothes and photographed her in agony. Him doing anything beyond that (again...that ought to be enough) is not even really implied in my mind.

Plus...as bad as the reactions were to the photos by Gordon and Bats, would they not have been even worse had some of them featured Joker raping a paralyzed Barbra Gordon? And the page before Bats talks to her in the hospital as he's being told what happened...again, the cops don;t even mention anythings sexual.

Cop to Bats: "Some woman inna same yoga class as Miss Gordon found her. Name of Colleen Reece. She found the, uh, victim, in a state of un-dress. but otherwise the place was empty. The Commissioner was..."

Bats: "Undress?"

Cop" "They didn't tell you? He'd removed her clothes after shooting her. We, uh...well, we found a lens cap on the floor that didn't fit any camera in the place. We believe that, uhh...well, that he took pictures. Of her. Jeez, look. Really, I'm sorry. I thought you knew. It's pretty sick, ain't it?"

Bats crushing a Joker playing card in hand: "Yes. Pretty sick. Please leave us alone for a moment."

Until reading internet speculation, it never once read to me like a rape...only that Joker had paralyzed her and to add insult to injury photographed her to push Gordan and Bats beyond their breaking points. I guess for me, anyway, it didn't require Joker raping a helpless paralyzed Barbra to be "that far."

Look man, I think we're all saying the same thing here. She clearly got raped, no one is saying otherwise. It's just which hole did it take place in and how will they portray it in the film. Personally I hope that they stay true to the original comic and have the Joker rape her in the bullet hole, while some may argue for a more traditional rape. But all the argument is moot until we finally see the savage, savage rape portrayed with this star cast. Personally, I can't wait.
