The problem is DC is shifting strategy 5 movies in. They are trying to do a reset in their cinematic universe without actually having to reset it because they are too stubborn to admit they were wrong.

Expect backlash if you copy Marvel's formula for introducing a character if it is already the 3rd movie to show the character (including 1 where they received a lazy intro and paperthin development.)

DC needs to either

A: start actually making better movies if they want to continue with the universe they started

Or

B: admit they were wrong and reboot the universe and try to keep what worked and focus on what makes DC comics successful.

The changes they have made feel more like execs desperate to keep their jobs/bonuses and less about fixing the problems.

I’m guessing they’re just trying to not have to totally reboot everything. Try to emulate the Marek formula without throwing everything out. So more standalone/origin movies and build up to Darkseid or whatever overarching threat. Can’t really blame them. Better late than never.
