I bought the second episode via Amazon Prime.
Both episodes were pretty cool. I do wish this was more like black mirror where everything drops at once.

Did anyone notice the voice on the mp3 in the second episode was the podcast GOAT Dan Carlin? Though that was a great touch.

Yep, apparently Carlin & Peele are pretty close.

my problem with the first one was that it had no business being an hour long

The original Twilight Zone had one season with hour long episodes. They immediately saw the mistake and went back to classic 30 minutes. I think the new series would do well to remember that lesson. These are parables, and parables don't need to be fleshed out.
I really liked The Comedian, mainly because it showed how quickly he could rationalize his power as doing good, when really all he cared about was being loved. He said he didn't care about the audience, but that's all he cared about. Hell, he didn't even care about being funny, as his bits were not even jokes, just detailing his grievance with that person. And I did like how he eventually made the moral choice in the end, even if it cost him everything. It was a tough ride, but eventually, the episode was quite hopeful about people. Which is my favorite kind of show/movie, one that brings you to the edge but brings you back with its fundamental faith in the goodness of humanity. IT's very Capra: you get your happy ending, but you have to work for it.
30,000 Feet was more straight forward crowd pleaser. And I liked the hat tips to the original (LOOK! A gremlin doll!) but also plotting its own course. And the coda was pretty great. There are consequences for your actions. Twilight Zone was always a hyper moral universe. Your sins will be punished. You will be judged.

quote:You aren't the only person who had a problem with the length of that episode. A lot of reviewers didn't like that. But I also don't think that will be the norm for this reboot.

We watched them on the CBS app last night. A strong start. The comedian episode was a good representation of the old "you can see how this will go wrong" Twilight Zone episodes.
The Nightmare at 30,000 was extremely well done. You could see what pieces could come into play, but the twist wasn't obvious. So glad that they didn't do a straight-up second remake with a monster on the wing.
Looking forward to the next ep on the 11th.
