Golden Age. I think the movie starts right around Gutts' fight with Bazuso.

Not a big fan of the CGI. I like that they will go into the other arcs. Hope they can finish the whole thing.

Yeah after watching that 10 minutes, all the random extra's faces in CGI look weird to me. The opening credits give me high hopes for the future of the project though. Supposedly it's gory as all hell. Which will be nice since the manga is fricking brutal.
Bazuso fight looks pretty well done imo.

Took me 10 or so pages of digging but had to find this thread and reply - was killing time on a slow work day early last week and saw this thread. I love me some anime, but it's been years since I watched anything new, so I browsed through here and picked a few out to try.
Started HOTD and Bleach over the weekend (thanks, Netflix). HOTD is pretty good; the dub is an abomination (as, sadly, many are), and the "fan-service" abounds in borderline ridiculous proportions, but some great over-the-top action, and the animation itself is gorgeous. And who doesn't love zombies???
Bleach.is.FANTASITC.
Started watching it late Friday after the wife went to sleep and I got bored with BF3. Knocked out 3 or 4 episodes and thought "Eh, pretty good". The wife is a couple weeks away from having our 1st baby, so as you can imagine our down-time consists of laying around doing jack shite. So Saturday I watch a few more episodes, and I am totally hooked. At this point I am almost done with season one. Completely reminded me why I love anime so much.

Like a lot of guys I started out with Akira, moved on to Ghost in the Shell, and from there I was officially hooked (this was around '99-'00). My all-time favorite is definitely Cowboy Bebop (own the movie and most of the series on DVD). This thread reminded me of all the ones I saw bits and pieces of over the years; Trigun, Outlaw Star, Macross (4-part Macross Plus OAV(?) is amazing), Gundam, Death Note, FLCL, Desert Punk, Darker than Black, and lot's of others whose titles I can't recall.
Anyone else see one with two young women who are PIs or something, and drive around in a amazingly detailed '68 Sheby GT500? All realistic - no demons, giant robots, etc. That show was fuggin awesome - haven't been able to find it anywhere in years.

Yea, its nice that they have a decent selection. I have about mowed through Trigun, and I am about 1/4 way thorough my second Death Note watch.
Trigun, I don't love it as much as most, but it is growing on me as the show is starting to get into the reason Vash is "humanoid typhoon." I really, REALLY, wish Cowboy Bebop was on Netlfix. I have seen one or two eps, and it seems like a show I would really enjoy.

Both in my queue; still haven't decided what I will start next.

Sucks that Akira is not on Netflix. I watched the first Ghost in the Shell; are the others worth watching?

Have any desire to watch subbed anime instead of dubbed?

12 episodes vs 350+. you can knock out HOTD in a day.

I would say Bleach - it seems a lot like DBZ in that it has a shite-ton of episodes, some of which are pretty much filler, but if you end up liking it you are gonna just have to watch one more to see where the story goes. Plus, at 100+ episodes available to stream you are gonna be with it for awhile (I know I will).

Find someplace else online to stream it (I'm sure someone on here can suggest a place). It's just jaw-droppingly good.

The original movie is the best Ghost in the Shell. The series that I saw (Stand Alone Complex, I believe?) is ok, but not great. Same goes for the second movie. I believe this is a case where the original really is the best.

Almost brought this up as well.
Oh, and WHERE THE FUG CAN YOU GET 350+ BLEACH EPISODES.....Netflix and trusty ol' wikipedia lead me to believe there are like 120 or so episodes subbed in English at present.
ETA: How many episodes/story arcs are there?

Check out these that should still be on Netflix:
Corpse Bride
Darker than Black
Kaze no Stigma
Claymore
Samurai Champloo
I also recommend trying out Hell Girl. It is very different from any other anime that I have seen. Deals with revenge and retribution. The first season is a bit weird and it may not be for everyone, but I really liked it. Good animation and just different in style.
As far as for what I am currently watching, I recently picked up s-CRY-ed and Witch Hunter Robin.
s-CRY-ed wasn't as good as I remember, but still a good show.
Witch Hunter Robin has started off slow, but I have a feeling it is about to pick up in pace.

I think they are coming out with a movie, not sure if it was scrapped. Hopefully it was scrapped, because Keanu was supposed to play Spike and that would be a travesty.

AnimeSeason. I would suggest looking up what episodes are fillers to avoid wasting time. They literally spend a year a piece alternating from manga story to filler. Since you like bleach a lot, youll love naruto and one piece, both of which i like better.

That's what I'm afraid of. ****POSSIBLE SPOILERS****
I'm at the point where Ichigo is about to "start training" for his rescue mission. When I finished watching last night I though to myself "training for a big fight.....oh for the love of jebus this better not take 20 episodes". If they take the entire next season to rescue Rukia (which I kinda feel like they are setting up for) I am going to stab myself in the eye with a pencil....partly because Rukia was arguably my favorite character, and partly because the pacing has been pretty decent so far. Only one instance where they stretched what could have been one episode out into like 3.

Seen all the Darker than Black on Netflix; liked it, thought it ended kinda abruptly. Makes me wonder if there's not more out there that just isn't on Netflix.
Claymore is good, haven't taken the time to get into it yet. Have to try Samurai Champloo - one of those you always hear about, but somehow I've never taken the time to sit down and watch it.

I'll definitely have to do that - I'm gonna be pissed if it reeaaaalllly bogs down after starting so solid.
I've tried naruto once and just didn't get into it, might have to give it another shot. Never seen one piece, have to try it as well.

These that yall are talking about being on netflix, is there an option to watch them subbed? I've tried watching a couple on there on my comp or something, but I just can't handle the dubbing.
Posted on 2/13/12 at 9:01 am to EastcoastEER
for every 50 episodes of story arc, there is 50 of filler, same with naruto. Def give naruto another shot because its one of the most thought out story lines ive seen. Then in the second arc, Naruto Shippuuden, hes older and starts to become a badass.
One piece is the longest running of the three so far, and has very few fillers.
