This is actually a really popular fan theory but I don’t think so. That was designed for jay to turn to the dark side and led up to him being able to waste smurf.

If I remember correctly that story arc paralleled Smurf's flashback story where she begins to take control of the gang she was in. So we see Jay doing it in real time and how Smurf did it in the past.

Savage because there was no emotion when he did it or afterwards. Similar to other times too.
Setting up the teacher and sketchy cops
Leaving stupid arse Nicky at the hospital
Getting the best of Mia who was essentially a freaking Sicario
Taking out Smurf
On the business side:
He took out the shady lawyer
Learned how to launder the money
Has a connection with the fence now
Has a connection with Pete
And now may have a connection with Frankie on future jobs
Situations that still need to be settled:
Angela
Adrian and the Feds
Retaliation from the people they just robbed

Only 2 days until the finale. I started watching this show because I loved in that area and didn’t like it. 1st season started out as a poor ripoff of a modern day Point Break. Credit to the writers for recognizing the talent of actors and adjusting the story. It’s a top TV show at this point.

Watching it now. Just started. Pope all over J’s shite.
ETA: Just finished it. If anyone is reading that hasn't watched. Unlike most series... Season One sucked and I almost bailed. Seasons two and three awesome. Umm Season 4 - No way they can top it but their writers are kicking arse.

Love how unpredictable the season finale was, I guessed wrong on almost every plot I thought they would tie up tonight.

Ok finale, seemed kinda flat, figured it would be more intense.
